Carriage Driving Academy’s<br />

coach is holding a series of ‘Try<br />
Carriage Driving’ days<br />
that will provide a unique<br />
opportunity to experience<br />
carriage driving.<br />
This new initiative has<br />
been designed to provide<br />
real, hands on experience<br />
proving how easy it is to<br />
get involved and of course,<br />
how much fun can be<br />
had! Aimed at the novice,<br />
you don’t need to have<br />
previous carriage driving<br />
or riding experience to<br />
participate.<br />
Each session will cover a range<br />
of carriage driving fundamentals,<br />
including long reining, harnessing up,<br />
examining different types of carriage<br />
and their purpose, and of course,<br />
driving! Bennington’s extensive<br />
facilities and indoor arena allow them<br />
hold the events even if the weather is<br />
inclement. Time: 10am - 3pm Cost per<br />
person £95 The next dates for these<br />
fun filled sessions are: Saturday 22nd<br />
<strong>April</strong> and 24th June.<br />
And for the more experienced drivers,<br />
Sue is happy to provide training<br />
which includes her goal setting<br />
sessions when she will help you plan<br />
your priorities and come up with an<br />
action plan with smart goals to help<br />
you achieve your driving goals this<br />
summer.<br />
Earlier this year, Sue had a visitor<br />
all the way from Australia who<br />
wanted to learn more about driving.<br />

Karen Tyrrell says “When you live in<br />
Central Queensland, where until very<br />
recently the nearest harness club was<br />
over 300km away, qualified driving<br />
instructors are like hen’s teeth.<br />
“As I am hoping to break my two<br />
35 ½” chunky mini horses to drive,<br />
when I started to organise my trip to<br />
Americas, Europe and Asia, I thought I<br />
would try and visit Bennington, whose<br />
website I have visited repeatedly – to<br />
book a lesson too<br />
Karen says “On a very frosty morning,<br />
after being talked through harnessing<br />
up with a very positive and handson<br />
approach, I got to drive 23yr old<br />
Dylan both indoors and out. Sue was<br />
open to questions-a-million and very<br />
approachable. She explained the<br />
importance of the driver using voice<br />
commands, positive attitude, body<br />
movement and having fun - enjoyment<br />
being the reason we drive after all!<br />

throughout the UK was based around<br />
my 1hr lesson at Long Bennington,<br />
near Newark. And it was so worth<br />
it! Now I can’t wait to get home to<br />
my horses, purchasing a Bennington<br />
Carriage (which can be dismantled<br />
for transporting), and with Sue’s<br />
encouragement to set goals and to<br />
keep in touch with our progress, we<br />
