A Thrilling Gate
Jumping Evening
An exhilarating night of fast and
furious gate jumping action
as The Quorn Hunt host their
annual gate jumping competition. A
small field battled for the top prize and
their name on the stunning hand
sculpted trophy.
The winner clearing a
massive 1.55m was Craig
Kiddier on Quin, a
beautiful stamp of a
hunter and every bit the
gentleman, looking after
Craig, who confessed
to me during the prize
giving that he shouldn’t
be riding thanks to a
damaged knee, cracked ribs
and a broken collarbone!
Finishing in a very stylish 2nd
place was Lydia Cope, wife of Pytchley
MFH, she expertly coaxed the excitable
Paddy over the gate. Whilst the crowd
held their breath, Lydia looked the
picture of calm atop the thundering
hooves of her mount!
In contrast the wonderfully dependable
Ben carried event rider Boogie Machin
into 3rd place. At 20 years young he
showed that age is but a number,
and with an experienced head on his
beautiful shoulders they made some
spectacular shapes over the ever
growing fence.
Ed Winterton who rode
Fox with flamboyance,
bravado and a little old
fashioned luck, took
home the prize for the
best Quorn subscriber
