Riders in the BE 100
LAUREN ALLIN,
Nottinghamshire
24 year student Lauren Allin
has qualified for the BE100
Mitsubishi Motors Cup on her
nine year old horse called The
Aviator III. The combination
qualified at British Eventing’s
(BE) Event at Shelford BE in
August with a 24.3 dressage score and
nothing to add, coming third. Lauren
is in her second year of studying
Footwear Design at De Montfort
University, Leicester, and manages to
fit her studies around her riding with
the help of her wonderful mother,
Hazel Allin, who owns and runs a riding
school and livery yard in Ruddington,
Nottingham. The Aviator III, or Pogo
as he is known at home, is a multipurpose
horse, not only does he event
he also was in the opening ceremony
at the Aachen 2015 Europeans. At
Blenheim International Horse Trials
Lauren and Pogo took part in the ‘Bit
on the Side’ side saddle demonstration
and he even qualified for the coloured
finals at HOYs with Lauren’s mum.
At just 15hh he’s not massive but try
telling him that, according to Lauren,

his lack of height is made up for with
personality!
JANE LEE, North Yorkshire
Jane Lee, from North Yorkshire has
qualified for the first time in the BE100
Mitsubishi Motors Cup on her nine
year old horse called Gorgeous. She
had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma aged
32 and was given less than six months
(she’s now in the year of her 51st
Birthday). She got a horse to enjoy
some normality with no intention of
doing more than hacking, yet joined
BE aged 43 and got her horse from
an allotment as a three year old not
knowing anything about him.
Jane won the British Riding Club Horse
Trials Open Team Championship
last year at Swalcliffe and had to
compete in three Mitsubishi Motors
Cup Regional Finals until she finally
qualified at Norton Disney BE. Jane
has only ever been to the Mitsubishi
Motors Badminton International Horse
Trials once and can’t wait to be able to
drive through the gates to Badminton.
SAMANTHA JIMMISON, Doncaster,
Yorkshire
Samantha and Dayton Di Villa Lori
qualified for the BE100 section at
Skipton BE Regional Final in August
2016. Dayton, a 17hh nine year
old gelding was originally sent to
Samantha to compete in dressage and
sell but luckily he was bought by Josie
Robinson who ensured that Samantha
kept the ride. The pair competed in the
BE90 Mitsubishi Motors Cup last year
and this winter they have been working
on their dressage, a change of bit has
made a huge difference and Samantha
has also been working on his fitness.
The pair will joined by owner Josie and
they will also be taking two horses who
are competing in the Burghley Young
Event Horse at Badminton.
EMILY HOBSON, Doncaster,
Yorkshire
University student, Emily Hobson has
qualified her six year old mare Cassios
Princess, who she broke in herself,
for the BE100 section. It will be their
first time competing in the Mitsubishi
Motors Cup. Emily fits in her riding
around studying to be a primary
school teacher and has spent the
winter working on her horse’s fitness
and having regular dressage lessons
with her trainer Tori Peters. Emily is
supported by her mother Sue Hobson
who owns Moorhouse Equestrian
Centre in South Yorkshire. Sue helps
Emily with her show jumping and will
be joining Emily at the Mitsubishi
Motors Cup in May.
