67 MOULD PRODUCTION FORMENHERSTELLUNG Any work of art by MEISSEN ® has its beginnings in the modelling shop. A clay model that is itself cast from a master mould is required in order to produce working moulds for the piece. It is not possible to cast complete figurines from a single mould, so the clay model is cut up into smaller sections. Just how many depends on the size and complexity of the piece in question. The various clay sections are cast as negative moulds using liquid plaster of Paris. The working moulds produced in this way are then lined with malleable porcelain paste. The individual parts of the porcelain figurine are thus mould-modelled. Jedes Kunstwerk von MEISSEN ® nimmt in der Modellwerkstatt seinen Anfang. Zum Erstellen der Arbeitsformen ist ein Tonmodell erforderlich, welches aus einer historischen Modellform entsteht. Da Figuren nicht als Ganzes ausgeformt werden können, zerschneidet man das Tonmodell in Einzelteile. Wie viele, ist je nach Größe und Komplexität der Figur unterschiedlich. Die Toneinzelteile werden mit flüssigem Gips als Negativformen gegossen. Die so entstandenen Arbeitsformen werden dann mit plastischer Porzellanmasse ausgeschlagen. Die Einzelteile der Porzellanfigur werden geformt.
