auf teilweise abgesperrten Straßen durch malerische
Städtchen und Landschaften. Eskortiert von den Carabinieri
und umjubelt von tausenden Automobilfans. Dazu feine
italienische Küche, hochkarätige Fahrzeugklassiker und viel
Prominenz live. Keine Frage, die Mille Miglia ist immer auch
ein gesellschaftliches Ereignis.
Das Rennen mit der „magischen 7“
1927 wurde die Mille Miglia erstmals ausgetragen. Nach
dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges startete sie 1947 erneut.
Bei den klassischen Rennen in den ersten 30 Jahren
fieberten die Fahrer, als Schnellster wieder in Brescia zu
sein. Eine Ära, die 1957 endete. 1977 feierte die Mille Miglia
Wiederauferstehung: als historische Motorsport-Veranstaltung,
bei der es weniger um Tempo, vielmehr um Zuverlässigkeit,
Gleichmäßigkeit, Durchhaltevermögen und
Ankommen geht.
An exceptional state in Italy. Fascinating old-timers drive
through specifically closed-off streets in picturesque
towns and landscapes. Escorted by the carabinieri and
cheered by thousands of automobile fans. And it’s all
accompanied by fine Italian cuisine, top-class classic vehicles
and lots of prominent people live on the scene.
There’s no question about it: the Mille Miglia is still a social
happening too.
Racing with the “magical 7”
The Mille Miglia had its first run in 1927. After the end of
the Second World War, it started off again in 1947. In the
classic races for the first 30 years, the drivers sweated for
the speed records. An era that ended in 1957. In 1977,
the Mille Miglia celebrated a resurrection: as a historic
motorsport event, where speed is less of the essence,
and the focus is more on reliability, regularity, stamina and
reaching the destination.
