at St Mark’s Shopping Centre to enjoy.
Almost Olly, an Olly Murs tribute act will be
entertaining the crowds before the cast of Beauty
& The Beast perform the switch-on there.
The excitement of this wonderful season
continues with the return the fantastic Lincoln
BIG Ice Rink, which will be in City Square from
November 28 to January 1.
This family-friendly attraction will be open every
day and offer 45-minute sessions between 10am
and 9pm. Children under the age of three can
only skate on dedicated family sessions and there
are fun penguin-shaped aids to help them to
stand on the ice.
Lincoln BIG has included “quiet” times too, on
Tuesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 1pm, to suit
people with disabilities and newcomers to ice
skating.
Families, school groups, individuals and
corporate parties are welcome to book sessions,
but readers should note that the rink will operate
during reduced hours (11am to 5pm) on Boxing
Day and New Year’s Day and will be closed on
Christmas Day.
There’s something magical about enjoying
festive retail therapy “after dark”. This year
Lincoln stores will be staying open for Late Night
Shopping every Thursday from November 17 to
December 22 until 8pm (some stores 9pm), and
from Monday-Friday, December 19-23, until 8pm.
Lantern Parade

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy extra time with
friends and enjoy a meal and perhaps a visit to the
cinema.
Lincoln BIG is also gearing-up to stage its annual
Lantern Parade on December 15. This year it
promises to be even more unmissable because
Andy Jupp of PaperStarlights – who has been
selling his fabulous star lanterns at the Christmas
Market for many years – is giving Lincoln BIG a
selection of lanterns for the parade.
Children from Westgate Academy will be taking
part in the parade, which leaves Lincoln Cornhill at
6pm and winds its way up Steep Hill into Castle Hill
for a carol service.
And it really wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit
from that jolly man in his red suit and his fourlegged
friends!
There’s a chance to meet the stars of Lincoln BIG’s
Reindeer Parade on November 24, at St Mark’s
Shopping Centre 2pm-4pm, before they later teamup
with Santa Claus and his sleigh for their parade,
which will leave St Marks at 6pm and make its way
to the Cornhill, where it will stay until 8pm.
Lincoln’s World Famous Christmas
Market, with its unique ambience
and amazing mix of stalls, will be
trading from December 1 to 4 –
so don’t miss out on this crowd
