Mum2Mum Markets
Enterprising mum takes new business to market
Children may be
small, but they come
with a LOT of stuff.
Enterprising mum
Ange Westbrook is
offering parents the
chance to cut back
on the clutter while
making money. And
she does it all while
juggling a fitness
business and her own
growing family...
It was a call they had been
dreaming of, but they were not
expecting it a few days before
their adoption application
approval panel in February 2016.
But when the phone rang to
inform them they had been
matched with a baby boy, Ange
Westbrook and her husband
Pete, realised they needed to
get kitted out for their new arrival
– and quick.
From cots and clothes to play
mats and potties, the couple set
about preparing their home. The
list of essentials seemed endless
and the couple, like all expectant
parents, faced a huge bill to get
themselves ready.
Sadly, a short time later and for
reasons outside of their control, the
adoption placement fell through.
While Ange, Pete and older
daughter Amelia were devastated
that they didn’t get to welcome
home the little boy, they remained
committed to extending their family.
And they’d been served a timely
reminder about just how much they
would need to buy once their family
began to grow.
Around the same time, Ange, from
Bracebridge Heath near Lincoln,
caught an episode of cult TV
show Dragons’ Den. It featured an
entrepreneur called Cath Harrop,
who was pitching her business
franchise idea, Mum2Mum Markets.
The concept was simple; a marketstyle
sale was organised where
parents could pitch up and sell
their unwanted baby and child
paraphernalia. Other parents
could attend and bag themselves
second hand bargains. Everything
