GREY POWER ELECTRICITY
Hi everyone,
We have had many
requests from customers
about starting a Facebook
page for Grey Power Electricity,
so we have decided to create
one.
We aim for the Grey Power
Electricity Facebook page to be
used as a place where customers
are able to share content
with like-minded Grey Power
members such as relevant articles
and a place where they
can have online discussions
with one another.
We will also use the Facebook
page as a place to provide
interesting content to our
audience and to promote the
benefits of Grey Power Electricity.
We would love to hear
from Grey Power members if
they have any interesting content
that we can share on our
page.
For example, power saving
tips to keep the house warm
this winter or an interesting
article they have come across.
If you would like to share
some content, please email
marketing@pulseenergy.co.nz
The Facebook page can be
found at www.facebook.com/
GreyPowerElectricity/ make
sure you ‘like’ the page to
keep up to date with our latest
posts.
Kind regards,
Georgina
Foot health as we age
On average, humans walk
the equivalent of 3-4
times around the world
in their lifetime.
Our legs and feet play a key
role in our life and as we age, it
is important to look after them
to stay healthy and active.
What happens to our feet as
we age?
The degenerative affects of ageing
could alter the structures
in the foot which may lead to
functional impairments, skin
and nail changes.
For example, skin can become
dry and prone to cracking
or thinning which can tear easily.
Or a callus can become hard
and cause discomfort.
Nail growth reduces with
age, Good news! However, nails
can become drier and thicker.
Brittle nails are likely to split.
Degeneration of the joints
makes them less effective and
often pressure is transferred to
other areas which are not designed
to accommodate such
forces. There are many forms
of arthritis which can affect the
feet, these are usually progressive,
especially if ignored.
The role of a podiatrist
A Podiatrist is a health care
professional who will diagnose
and treat conditions of the foot,
ankle and leg. We aim to keep
your activities as comfortable as
possible.
Common conditions we treat
• Bunions. A bony change at
the base of the big toe, or
sometimes on the small toe.
Eventually, the big toe may
bend abnormally toward the
small toes.
• Calluses and corns. Painful or
yellowish, thickened skin on
the feet and toes.
• Hammertoes. Toe joints (usually
the second toe but all the
middle toes may be affected)
that curl up or under, either
rigidly or with some flexibility.
• Toenail problems. Ingrown
(growing into the skin), thickened,
or discoloured toenails.
• Foot problems related to diabetes.
Such as stubborn foot
ulcers that are difficult to
heal, loss of feeling or circulation
problems.
• Heel pain. This pain is present
at the back of the arch from
heel spurs (bony outgrowth)
or plantar fasciitis (an inflamed
ligament along the
bottom of the foot).
• Arch pain. From fallen arches
(flat feet), or abnormally high
arches.
• Tarsal tunnel syndrome. A
type of pinched nerve disorder.
• Achilles tendonitis. Inflammation
of the tendon that
connects your heel bone to
your calf muscle.
• Morton’s neuroma. A benign
nerve growth between the
third and fourth toes.
Tips for healthy feet
- Exercise: Keeping active
helps to keep feet healthy –
it tones up muscles, helps to
strengthen arches and stimulates
blood circulation.
- Regular check-ups: As we
get older, an annual foot
health check is as important
as a sight or hearing test.
Conditions like diabetes or
circulatory problems can all
be picked up by looking at
the feet and common problems
like corns, cracked skin
and ingrown toenails can be
successfully treated.
Don’t ignore pains and strains.
