14R SHIPPING CONTAINERS<br />
(a ) Shipping containers may not be <strong>use</strong>d as accessory buildings to a residential <strong>use</strong>.<br />
Shipping containers may be <strong>use</strong>d as accessory buildings only in an industrial or<br />
commercial zone, or in conjunction with a recreation <strong>use</strong>, pursuant to applicable<br />
requirements for accessory buildings and pursuant to applicable zone standards<br />
including those relating to setbacks, screening and <strong>land</strong>scaping. Notwithstanding<br />
the foregoing, shipping containers intended for non-recreation <strong>use</strong> shall not be<br />
permitted on any property which abuts a residential, park or institutional zone.<br />
(b ) Shipping containers may not be placed in the front or flanking yard of any lot, or<br />
between the main building and any street.<br />
(c) No shipping container may be <strong>use</strong>d in any zone as a dwelling or other form of<br />
accommodation, including offices.<br />
14S ZM-22 - AREAS OF ELEVATED ARCHAEOLOGICAL POTENTIAL<br />

Where excavation is required for a development on any area identified on ZM-22<br />
attached to this <strong>by</strong>-<strong>law</strong>, a development permit may be issued and the application<br />
may be referred to the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and<br />
Heritage, Heritage Division for any action it deems necessary with respect to the<br />
preservation of archaeological resources in accordance with provincial<br />
requirements.<br />
14T ZM-23 - WETLANDS MAP (RC-Jun 27/06;E-Aug 26/06)<br />
Every application for a development permit shall be accompanied <strong>by</strong> plans,<br />
drawn to an appropriate scale, showing the location of all wet<strong>land</strong>s identified on<br />
ZM-23 attached to this <strong>by</strong>-<strong>law</strong>, within and adjacent to the lot. Notwithstanding<br />
any other provision of this <strong>by</strong>-<strong>law</strong>, no development of any kind shall be permitted<br />
within any such wet<strong>land</strong>.<br />
DEVELOPMENT AND SUBDIVISION ON THE NORTHWEST ARM AND<br />
THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE BEDFORD BASIN (RC-Jan 11/11;E-Mar<br />
12/11)<br />
14U For any development or subdivision within the Northwest Arm Water Access<br />
Area or the Bedford Basin Water Access Area, in addition to all other applicable<br />
requirements of this By-<strong>law</strong>, the following requirements shall apply:<br />
(a) Definitions:<br />
(i) “Boatho<strong>use</strong>” means a building or structure, whether permanent or<br />
temporary, which is located on a waterfront lot, which is roofed,<br />
which does not contain toilet, bathroom, kitchen or sleeping facilities<br />
and which is <strong>use</strong>d for the shelter or storage of boats, watercrafts and<br />
associated marine accessories and equipment, but not for the<br />
accommodation of persons, animals, or vehicles as defined <strong>by</strong> the<br />
Motor Vehicle Act.<br />
