Fake posts warning
THE Komani police have appealed to members of
the public to stop circulating false rumours on
social media.
Police spokeswoman Captain Namhla Mdleleni,
referring to the recent arrest of six suspects
following an armed robbery in Komani, said photos
of the suspects had started circulating on social
media soon after the arrests.
“Now people are starting to say the men have
been linked to abductions in the area – it’s simply
not true.”
Mdleleni said further false reports of attempted
or actual kidnappings were also doing the rounds
on social media but that police had no such cases
or any related information.
“We appeal to members of the public to refrain
from creating such false posts which result in
confusion, fear and uncertainty.”
