ARTea – a reputation to be proud of
When James Swansborough-
Smith took over ARTea Room in
Wakefield Country Courtyard, he was
determined to build a reputation as
a venue for delicious home-made
food and drinks. Watching customers
return again and again, he has proof
that he has achieved his aim. As
its name suggests, local artwork
adorns the walls and an eye-catching
mural created from tea has revived
a little-used corner of the tearoom.
Mismatched chairs and tables and
quirky gifts complete the perfect
setting for a quaint tearoom.
James, a Pru Leith School of Food
and Wine trained chef, has developed
a menu that offers more than cream
teas. Light bites, heartier meals and
appetising cakes are all available.
The early morning breakfast platters,
delicious sandwiches, jacket potatoes,
soup and one pot wonders are
drawing hungry customers with their
flavour, quality and value.
The home-made cakes will
challenge the most sweet-tooth
customer’s decision-making skills and
luxury cream tea lovers will enjoy
the addition of an indulgent glass
of sparkling wine. Coeliac diners will
welcome the gluten free scones.
And thirsty visitors, impressed by
the selection of loose-leaf teas,
are delighted to find they are also
available to buy for home.
James has firmly stamped his mark
on this must-go-to tea-room – pop
over and see for yourselves.
