The 18th Annual Ballwin Triathlon<br />

is at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 16 at the<br />

North Pointe Aquatic Center, 335 Holloway<br />

Road in Ballwin. Open to individuals<br />

of all ability levels, age 9 and up. The<br />

race consists of a 300-yard swim, 9-mile<br />

bike ride and 3.4-mile run. The fee is $30<br />

through June 24; $40 thereafter. Raceday<br />

especially for children ages 9 to 11 who<br />

may be staying home alone for the first<br />

time or need to learn more skills for<br />

parents to be comfortable leaving them<br />

home alone. Topics include handling<br />

the unexpected, stranger danger, simple<br />

first aid, dealing with loneliness and<br />

boredom, storm safety, trust and honesty.<br />
