E63 Norwegian University of Science and Technology Revolve NTNU 2016 sees the 5th entry into the Formula Student competiton for Revolve NTNU, with Scandinavias first 4WD electric race car - Gnist. Our team consist of 56 students from all five years of study and several different engineering disciplines. The 4WD system opened a lot of opportunities, like torque vectoring and regenerating more energy from breaking. This lead to a deeper reserch regarding new battery cells to cobe with the charging currents. We wanted to design the TV-algorithms, planetary gearbox, carbon fiber rims and suspension system as well as our own SiCMOS inverter to lower the systems weight and increase efficiency. This alongside improving our electronics and analysis software, re-designing the monovoque, battery, aero package and cooling system lead to another year with hard work and technical improvements.
