Zwickau? Probably never heard about it! The small
east-saxon city is the birthplace of a famous car company
- later known as AUDI. Due to the fact that there is a
huge tradition in building cars, a small group of students
decided to build their own racing car. That
was 10 years ago. While the first four cars are
powered by combustion engines, in 2010 we additionally
built an electric vehicle. Now, with our FPX16e (or called

„eRnst“), we are able to present our seventh electric
racing car. About 60 motivated students enabled us to
present our new family member as
early as possible – our rollout in April was one of the
first rollouts of an electric Formula Student car
this year. That are all quite nice features, but
what really matter is what is inside the car.
Under a pile of cable ties you can find an
inventive concept, that differs a lot from
last year’s: True to our motto „Back to the
roots“ (thanks to our 10th anniversary) we
built a racing car with a four-wheel drive. Every one of the four
permanent energized motors has
a peak power of 38 kW. With a
revised aerodynamic package and
an integrated cooling system we want
to tie up to our last achievements.
