SERIES 3 FANs
In 1981 we included our old Series 3 fans,
which had a deep dish (large, “E” dimension)
with our Series 6 listing. Most of the styles were
obsolete. We are now reusing Series 3 fans to
indicate those fans, which have a negligible “E”
dimension, i.e. flat backed fans. Modern, foreign
and American motor designs often have squared
off or flat end bells, so no recess is required in the
fan’s hub area. These fans can be used on many
Baldor, GE, Toshiba and other brands. Photo
315 refers to fan blade used to blow dust, chips,
etc. in material handling. These fans are not
specifically designed for motor cooling.
SERIES 4 FANs
Series 4 fans were first made to resemble General
Electric plastic fans with a back clamping, split
hub. Other manufacturers have machined the
hub on the back to function as a bearing cover,
or used a setscrew near the back to mount the
fan on a short shaft. We added flat backed fans
with equivalent dimensions for GE motors. The
front hub is easier to heat and to tighten the
setscrews. These flat backed fans are designated
1-001 through 1-103 in Series 1 Blank Bore Fan
