The Lesson of the Lady in Pajamas
When I learned about this tool, I loved it. I saw its potency right away. So I was rigorous
in watching out for judgment and noticing where I made myself and others wrong
(although, like you, I usually judged me much more than I judged others). One day I was
walking down the street in my lovely, upstate New York town, and noticed a woman
walking toward me wearing pajamas and fuzzy slippers.
I was still in my princess mode and thought WTF? She’s wearing slippers and pjs in the
street? In the middle of the day? As soon as that came into my head, my hand flew to
my mouth. OMG, I’m judging! I can’t believe it.
So I started IPOV right away. Isn’t this interesting that I’m judging her for wearing this in
the street? Actually, it looks like a very comfortable outfit—maybe I’ll try it! I shifted that
judgment right away.
Then, that very same week I went to a gathering at a private home. I walked into the
living room, now in my fabulous designer role, and thought, “OMG, how ugly!” I
astonished myself. “Oh my God! I’m doing it again!” So once again, I used my tool:
Interesting I have this point of view that everyone’s house should be photo-ready for
Architectural Digest!
When you function from this space, which, by the way, is called allowance, you’re no
longer living in the energy of judgment. You’re living in the energy of consciousness,
which gives you the knowing to ask the question, “Is this really working for me?” Which
creates the awareness of “definitely not!” Which creates the possibility of IPOV. Which
can be the contribution to change your life!
Consciousness is receiving everything with no point of view. Total allowance.
