With the Australia Test team set
to reach Dhaka tonight for the
two-match Test series against host
Bangladesh, the law enforcement
agencies of the country have started
preparation for foolproof security
arrangement.
For the last two days, the first
para-commando of Bangladesh
Army held drills in Mirpur’s Sher-e-
Bangla National Stadium, the venue
for the first Test, set to begin on
August 27.
Security has been flagged as a
concern by many foreign missions
in Bangladesh for the past few years.
However, the arrangement set
by the government and the security
agencies has been able to give
the touring teams in Bangladesh
confidence.
Bangladesh played their last
home series, against England, in
October, 2016, and the security arrangement
for the touring side and
their stakeholders has been widely
praised.
Australia, in their first Test series
against Bangladesh in 11 years, will
play the second Test against the host
in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury
Stadium from September 4.
The Aussies are also set to a play
a two-day practice game ahead of
the series. The venue for the match
against a BCB XI is however, yet to
be confirmed. •
this year, we cannot help but notice
that all the usual suspects are
back. Bangla Cat, Chevron, General
Electric, British American Tobacco,
Robi, Green Delta Insurance and
Le Meridien are just a few of the
teams who will no doubt be fighting
for honours this season with
their strengthened squads. Others
like three time reigning champion
Gemcon must be fancying their
chances for a fourth. Of course that
is whether Bando Design has anything
to say about the outcome.

our tournament and wish them the
