Aida Arosa Basto
Aida was born in Polangui, Albay but grew up in Mandaluyong City.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from
the University of the Philippines-Diliman and Philippine School of
Business Administration-Manila.
She worked at San Miguel Corporation-Makati and was Accounts Officer
at Lion’s Court Tailoring in Quezon City.
In Australia, she was employed in Sales, Administration and
Production Department of Plastiflex Australia Pty. Ltd. She earned
Certificates in Financial Services and Real Estate.
Aida loves dancing and an active member of Kayumanggi
Cultural Dancers, Marie & Friends Line Dancers and Dancing-
4-Fun. She enjoys singing, a member of PLCAA Glee Club
and various Church choirs.
She is the current President of PLCAA, Philippine Language
and Cultural Association of Australia. She is a member of
UPAAA-NSW Chapter.
She was the creator, producer and Event Chairperson of Mano
Po Lolo, Mano Po Lola, a cultural masterpiece in PLCAA Tri-
Event in 2011.
Luzminda Montilla Bickerstaff
Luzminda was born and raised in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. She
is the only daughter of Francisco and Natividad Tan. She is married
to the late Dr. Jorge Montilla. They are blessed with four children
Celso Montilla (deceased) - Nautical, Dr Cecilia Montilla Rowe, Engr
Jorge Montilla & Dante Montilla - Information technology. She has seven
grandchildren, whom she considered as her treasures.
She graduated from the University of San Carlos with a Bachelor of Science
in Commerce degree. After graduation she got employed as administrative
officer at the Ministry of Human Settlement, Fishery Project at Agusan and
Surigao. She also worked as loan evaluation specialist for Kilusang
Kabuhayan Kaunlaran for Mindanao Region project.
She migrated to Australia in 1987 and finished Certificate III
in Nursing with special training in Dementia. She worked as
nursing associate in an aged care facility.
Luz, as she is called by friends, in involved in various
Filipino Australian community projects. She is one of the
directors of Concerned Citizens for Over 50’s, and also a
director of Banag Banag Association. She is also doing
volunteer work at St. Vincent and a Bronze Legacy supporter
of NARRA Co-operative Ltd.
