Message I am proud to congratulate Plaza Filipino Inc. and NARRA Co-operative Ltd on once again celebrating the selfless contributions made to our community by both mothers and fathers. The Annual Tribute to Father and Mothers allows our community to acknowledge the achievements of the Filipino community in our region and, indeed, all over the world. The annual tribute takes the time to appreciate the sacrifices parents make out of love and in hope for a prosperous future for their children. As a father, I know it is not always easy, you are a source of unwavering love, support and guidance, and for that I pay homage to all the amazing parents in our community. The Tribute to Fathers and Mothers allows us also to acknowledge all that makes Filipino-Australian culture great. This community is one of the most vibrant, family orientated and engaging communities in our society and it is great to take the time out of our busy lives to celebrate this tribute. The Macarthur region is one of the most diverse, multicultural communities in all of Sydney, and the Filipino community plays an integral role in making Campbelltown the colourful community it is – a truly wonderful place to raise a family. I thank Plaza Filipino Inc. and NARRA Co-operative Ltd for organising this fantastic event and take the opportunity to pay tribute to all fathers and mothers in our community. The depths of parental love deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated. The contribution of dads and mums to their families and communities often goes without acknowledgement, making this celebration of today’s worthy honourees, and of all parents and grandparents, particularly special. An event such as this reflects how Filipino people value their parents, grandparents and family, and sets an example to the wider community, of which you should be very proud. The event also provides us with an opportunity to celebrate Filipino culture, and to thank our local Filipino community for their significant contributions to Campbelltown. I congratulate all of those involved in the organisation of today’s event, and hope everyone here takes away the important message that parents should be loved, cherished and valued, not only today but every day. Message Tribute to Fathers and Mothers is another symbolic event which will treasured in everyone’s heart. Recognizing the accomplishments of Fathers and Mothers because of their significant contributions to the Filipino Community is laudable and commendable. I wish to convey my wholehearted congratulations to the Plaza Filipino Inc. headed by Michelle Baltazar and the NARRA cooperative Filipino Inc. headed by Dr. Jimmy Lopez whose efforts including their past presidents have acquired a Filipino Centre for multi purpose use. This is a very good model that each State and Territory should emulate. FILCCA commends you both and all your officers for your leadership. We wish your event a great success. MARIBBAY President FILCCA Message First of all, I would like to congratulate the officers and members of the Plaza Filipino, Inc. and the Narra Co-operative Ltd group for holding this beautiful event to honour two of the most important people in our lives, our Fathers and the Mothers. The Parents are the life givers who don’t flaunt or boast about their sacrifices because for them, sacrifices are expressions of love. Some chose not to have children because it is an ultimate sacrifice. To be blessed with a child is truly the best gift that can be bestowed upon any human being. I would also like to express my thanks to Management for inviting me and giving me the opportunity to say some words in my role as the President of the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales. I would like to commend Plaza Filipino and Narra Cooperative for being able to acquire a Filipino Community Centre, a dream that was considered impossible to achieve. Yet here is ACI Central, defying the impossible. Having had the privilege of knowing Jimmy Lopez, I understand firsthand how this dream became a reality. His vision and commitment to achieving this goal are unsurpassable. Of course, Jimmy could not do it alone and has been the beneficiary of everyone’s support and hard work. As a President, I truly appreciate the value of team work and harmony in an organisation. Congratulations to you Jimmy and your team on what you have achieved and wish you a very successful event.
