Message I congratulate the Plaza Filipino and NARRA Co-operative for their annual Tribute to Fathers and Mothers celebrations. Every year you provide an opportunity for parents in the area to come together and celebrate, acknowledge and appreciate families and the tireless work of parents to care for their families. It is also an opportunity for the Filipino-Australian community to come together and showcase their culture through dance and song. I commend the Co-operative for being active, engaging and providing an opportunity for the community to appreciate their cultural heritage. I thank you for all that you have done and continue to do, and I am honoured to be part of these memorable occasions. Office of Chris Hayes MP Chief Opposition Whip Federal Member for Fowler Message I wish to congratulate the Plaza Filipino Inc and NARRA Co-operative Ltd for this fantastic initiative. After all, there is nothing more important in life than family. When I first became a paediatrician, I learnt very quickly that I had to listen to mothers and fathers -because I knew they always had their child’s best interest at heart. I know that when a child is sick or suffering it is the unconditional love and support from their parents that gets them through. I see this today in my role as a Member of Parliament, when meeting with constituents throughout my community who seek to build a better future for the next generation. There is nothing more fulfilling in life than nurturing a child, and being able to support and guide children through life. One never ceases to be a parent, no matter your age. This parental support has always been integral to the Filipino Community and therefore it is only fitting that a tribute be given to mothers and fathers. The Macarthur region is truly lucky to have such a vibrant Filipino-Australian community, who contribute to the diversity and prosperity of our society. I wish to thank them for their ongoing contributions to our community, and congratulate them for the emphasis placed on the role that the family unit has in society. The Philippine-Australian Arts, Culture and Innovation Central is a source of pride for the Filipino community.
