EDITOR’S CHOICE
The security industry is busy and complex, so it’s easy to miss
new products and services as they get lost in day-to-day
activities. Every now and
again, certain products
grab our attention so
here we take a look at
some of the products
we think you won’t want
to miss this month.
360° coverage PIR detection
The Octopus DQ PIR from Pyronix delivers 360°
detection to any room. The ceiling mount infrared
detector constantly monitors the infrared energy
levels around a room and recognises any
changes that are caused by the presence of an
intruder. The detector will then inform the panel
to initiate an alarm.
The Octopus DQ can adapt to its environment
to safeguard against false alarms and improve its
immunity to interference. For example it can
digitally adjust the sensitivity of the detector to
maintain its specified range when the background
temperature is close to body temperature.
The sensitivity of the detector can
be manually adjusted and set to suit
the environment where it is installed.
Hybrid network
illuminators with
remote functionality
Raytec has released a range of Vario2 IP
Hybrid Illuminators that combine four
technologies into a single package.
Each illuminator combines Infra-Red,
White-Light, IP connectivity and PoE
technology into a single networked
package – designed to deliver the right
light for any situation, at any time.
Vario2 IP Hybrid utilises Platinum
Elite twin-core SMT LEDs which are
individually over 200% more powerful
than previous generation LEDs. This
allows the integration of two full size illuminators
(one Infra-Red and one White-Light) into one
much smaller hybrid platform.
Fully IP addressable, VARIO2 IP Hybrid allows
connectivity with a site at all times so that lighting
can be controlled to respond to live events or to
make easy remote adjustments. VARIO2 IP Hybrid
can also be integrated with a VMS, BMS or other
third party devices.
Active infrared beam series with flexible power source
Optex has extended its range of SmartLine active infrared beams with the SL-TNR series,
wireless and hybrid, entry-level outdoor active beam for simple point-to-point
applications.
The SL-TNR series includes two models: a 30-meter SL-100TNR and 60m SL-200TNR
outdoor battery-powered active beam that is suited to protect small perimeters, open
areas and driveways. The sensor has been designed to work with both D-sized lithium
batteries as well as CR123 batteries, when using optional battery-holders (CRH-5), which
are all included in the SL-TNR-CH package.
Four D-sized batteries fitted within the receiver and transmitter will reportedly
provide up to five years’ operation; 16 universal batteries will last up to one year.
The SL-TNR photobeam includes a hybrid option of a PCU-5 power converter, so the
receiver can be hardwired and the transmitter battery-powered. It is ideal
for situations when the receiver beam is on a building wall close to a main
power source and the transmitter is too far from it. SL-TNR beam sensors also
feature a back box that can accommodate most of the available wireless radio
transmitters on the market, making it easy to add a wireless perimeter alarm to
an existing indoor wireless system. www.optex-europe.com
