SUMMER 2017 ISSUE 132
Messy Church “Thy Kingdom Come”
Pentecost Celebration.
We finished for the summer on a real high sending water rockets
into the sky, over the yew trees and beyond, spraying water as
they went. Look on St Thomas’ Facebook page to see the
children, small and grown up, enjoying getting wet & imagining
how Jesus’ disciples must have felt as Jesus ascended into
heaven. A hidden angel painting showed Jesus ascending into
heaven with angels welcoming Him. Both activities led to
discussion on how the disciples were feeling - were they lonely,
worried or afraid or waiting for the Holy Spirit to come?
Painting “Amen” onto
bread with milk & then
toasting (followed by
eating it of course),
spiral prayer plates and
t h e L o r d ’s P r a y e r
spinner game helped the
families discover more
about prayer.
Play dough was used to make the disciples sitting in an
upper room waiting for the Holy Spirit to arrive. Here
we talked about could you be too old, too young, not
clever enough to share the Good News of Jesus with
our friends.
Good News to the World game showed with mini
smarties how the Good News spread across the world.
It was great to welcome a new family to our Messy
Church and spread the message further.
Following our worship session, we had an excellent
sausage and chips tea (thanks’ to King’s Street
Chippy) followed by cake - a real party atmosphere
ensued.
Thank you to all who have helped run Messy Church.
We are having a long summer break & intend to come
back in the Autumn with a new programme based on “Church Celebrations” but following the
same Messy Church ideals. Look for the dates in the church magazine and on the website.
