3. Statistical data of Ballabgarh Project and comparison with the national figures.<br />
The statistics to be known are:<br />
Birth Rate<br />
Death Rate<br />
Infant Mortality Rate<br />
Maternal Mortality Rate<br />
Eligible Couple Protection Rate<br />
Immunization Coverage<br />
4. Conduction of an epidemiological study.<br />
Selection of a problem occurring in the community.<br />
Review literature to find out the extent of the problem in the country.<br />
Decision whether to survey the entire population or a sample using the usual sampling techniques.<br />
Designing a proforma, pretesting and then using.<br />
Data collected is analysed and presented to the faculty of community medicine for discussion.<br />
A plan for feasible intervention measures is drawn up and will be executed.<br />
The final report (typed two copies) is to be submitted within 1 week of completion of the posting.<br />
5. Models of health care delivery in rural areas and the national health programmes:<br />
A visit to the Chief Medical Officer’s office (Faridabad) to learn the following:<br />
organisation of services<br />
administrative structure<br />
functions of<br />
– PHCs<br />
– Rural dispensaries<br />
– Referral hospitals<br />
– District hospitals<br />
collection of data at district headquarters transmission of data from district headquarters drug supply<br />
national health programmes at district level<br />
– Malaria<br />
– Tuberculosis<br />
– Family Welfare<br />
– EPI/UIP<br />
constraints in functioning<br />
Visits to 3 Primary Health Centres (Dayalpur, CHC Kurali and Kherikalan) to compare and contrast the<br />
functioning of all. The main objectives of these visits are to make you realise the vast gap between<br />
theory and practice of primary health care. The following will be learnt:<br />
