DIANA:
PRINCESS OF WALES

DIANA'sLEGACY
of
LOVE
?The w orst illness of our t im e is t hat so m any people have t o
suffer from never being loved.?
- Princess Diana
Dubbed " The People's Princess' by Tony
Blair, PM; Diana becam e a global icon,
fam ous for her beaut y, her fashion
choices and, of course her m arriage t o
t he Prince. But qut e aside from t hese,
t he m ost profound and last ing
difference she m ade w as t o her
philant hropic force.
Diana Frances Spencer was born in
Sandringham, Norfolk on 1st July 1961. She
was the fourth child out of five. The Spencer
family, has been closely allied with the
British Royal Family for several generations.
Both of Diana's grandmother's; Lady Ruth
Roche and Countess Cynthia Spencer,
were both Ladies "Of The Bedchamber"
(Personal Attendant to the HRH Monarch)
of HRH Queen Elizabeth the First (now
known as HRH Elizabeth, The Queen
Mother). Diana first received the title of
'Lady Diana Spencer' when her father
inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975.
She met HRH Prince Charles, when she was
only 16 in November 1977; when he was
dating her older sister, Lady Sarah. They
met whilst he was playing Polo and he took
interest in Diana as a potential bride. The
relationship progressed when he invited
Art icle by Mart in Ow ens-Cairns
her to various locations, meeting the
family. Lady Diana was loved by HRH
Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Duke of
Edinburgh. Prince Charles proposed to
Lady Diana on 6th February 1981, and she
accepted, they then married 29th July 1981.
As Princess of Wales she was expected to
make regular public appearances at
Hospitals, Schools and other facilities, in
the 20th-Century model of Royal
patronage.
HRH Diana, Princess of Wales is
remembered by everyone she met for her
warmth and genuine interest in their
situation and difficulties. She threw herself
into her charity work in a very personal
way, spending countless hours listening to
the individual stories and problems of the
people she visited.
She had the ability to make everybody feel
special, in particular vulnerable young
people who were touched by her warmth
and affection. In 1984, she became
President of Barnardo's, a British charity
which helps the most vulnerable children
and young people transform their lives and
fulfill their potential.
She also had a natural empathy with
people who were close to death or those
who had lost a loved one - something
which was clear through her visits to
hospitals and hospices in the UK and
abroad.
She described her work with the Royal
Brompton Hospital, London, like this:
'I make the trips at least three times a week
and spend up to four hours at a time with
patients holding their hands and talking to
them. Some of them will live and some will
die, but they all need to be loved while they
are here. I try to be there for them.'
In 1983, she confided in the Premier of
Newfoundland (Head of Government in
Canada), Brian Peckford:
"I am finding it very difficult to cope with the
pressures of being Princess of Wales, but I am
learning to cope"
To the media Diana often portrayed a very
stoic and positive energy, but an aid
suggested that at the same time these
engagements often drained Diana
emotionally.

the issue of landmines than any previous
campaign on the issue.
Following the trip, the representatives of
122 governments met in Ottowa, and
agreed a ban on the use of anti-personnel
landmines. When Foreign Secretary of the
time Robin Cook brought the second
reading of the landmines bill to the house
in 1998, he made a point of paying tribute
to Diana's contribution.
Decades after she mounted her
commitment to the mines clearence work,
pulling the public's attention onto the
issue, the support for the cause continues.
Her son, HRH Prince Harry, who is now
patron of leading landmine charity, the
HALO Trust, recently called for the world to
become free of the weapons by 2025.
As patron of The Leprosy Mission, she
visited hospitals in India, Nepal and
Zimbabwe, where she was pictured and
filmed spending time with patients,
holding their hands and dispelling the
myth that the illness can be passed on
by touch.
Hom eless young people
Diana was patron and a regular visitor
to the charity Centrepoint up until her
death in 1997. Despite her royal
lifestyle, she was not afraid to meet
those directly affected, and is even
known to have gone onto the streets
one night and spoken to rough
sleepers.
Diana w it h Mot her Theresa; June 1997
In February 1992 the Princess visited
Mother Teresa's Hospice for the Sick and
Dying in Kolkata, India, and visited every
one of the 50 patients who were close to
death. In Rome shortly afterwards, and
later in London and New York, she met
Mother Teresa and the two formed a strong
personal connection.
At the time of her death Princess Diana
remained official patron of Royal Marsden
NHS Trust (a cancer fund); Great er
Orm ond St reet Children?s Hospit al,
London; the Nat ional AIDS Trust (an
umbrella for a wide array of AIDS causes in
the United Kingdom); The Leprosy
Mission; the English Nat ional Ballet ; and
Cent repoint Soho (which provides services
to homeless youth). In addition, the
Princess was closely associated at the time
of her death with The Brit ish Red Cross
Ant i-Personnel Land Mines Cam paign
(technically, Diana?s official patronage of
the Land Mines Campaign ended in 1996,
but it remained one of her most active
causes in the last year of her life).
Sick Children
As patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital
for Children and The Royal Marsden
Hospital, known for treating cancerous
children. Diana was often pictured
comforting sick youngsters.
Today, HRH Prince William continues her
legacy, as president of the Royal Marsden
Hospital, the same renowned cancer
institution his mother represented from the
years of 1989 until her untimely death in
1997.
AIDS and HIV
Princess DIana was a crucial figurehead in
lifting the stigma once associated with AIDS
and HIV victims. In April 1987, she opened
the UK's first purpose built HIV/AIDS unit
that exclusively cared for patients infected
with the virus, at London Middlesex
Hospital.
A famous image from the event of her
shaking the hand of a sufferer without
gloves, despite widespread caution at the
time about how the disease was
transmitted, played a revolutionary role in
convincing the public that touching
sufferers was alright.
"HIV does not make people dangerous to
know. You can shake their hand and give
them a hug heaven knows they need it."
She told cameras at the time.
Leprosy
Similar to her AIDS efforts,
Diana travelled to countries with a high
leprosy rate in a bid to remove the stigma
surrounding the disease.
9 THINGS YOU PROBABLY
DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT DIANA
children in a Royal manner.
2) Her wedding dress had the
longest train in Royal history.
3) She chose her 12ct Engagement
Ring from a catalogue.
4) She didn't get good grades in
5) She aspired to be a ballerina.
6) She auctioned 79 of her Royal
dresses.
7) Her buriel place is an island.
8) She altered her wedding vows.
9) She battled with Bullemia and
Depression.

DIANA AND
THE DRESS
THAT OPENED
OUR EYES!
Princess Diana's Most Memorable LBD and statement-making
looks: a form-fitting black off-the-shoulder number by Greek
designer Christina Stambolian.
When Diana stepped out of her car to greet the party hosts and
waiting fans, she knew her stunning look would make an
impression (and be all over the news). She paired the dress with a
monochrome choker and pearl earrings; simple, elegant
accessories that aided ? and didn't distract from ? the look, an
ensemble that was much more brazen than anything she had
worn in the past.
Diana's smart, sexy LBD will go down in the books as one of the
most audacious and deliberate examples of revenge dressing.
Christina Stambolian was born in Greece and trained in Athens
before coming to London in the 70s, where she lived and worked
for most of her career. Christian designed evening, cocktail and
wedding dresses using exquisite silk, velvet, French lace and
beaded embroidery.
Her work includes producing 15 full-scale catwalk shows at
prestigious venues such as The Park Lane Hotel, The
Intercontinental and Claridges. Between 1983 and 1994, my
designs were sold in 'Christina Stambolian' boutiques in Paris and
London.
PICTURE: Diana and the famous dress. INSET Designer Christina Stambolian
The 'Revenge Dress' worn by Princess Diana at the 'Serpentine
Gallery' was bought by Graeme Mackenzie, the Scottish collector,
and has been used for worthy causes like 'Children First', the
Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
The 'Children of St Mary's' intensive care unit (1998).
Two water colour designs of Princess Diana's 'Revenge Dress'
were donated to 'Norwood and Demelza House' (Children and
Families First). The pictures were sold in the 'Designs of the Times'
charity event in March, 2003.
I have donated 14 miniature dresses to the 'Giorgio de Cirico'
gallery in Volos, Greece, including a miniature of 'The revenge
Dress'
'The Revenge Dress' was worn by Princess Diana at The
Serpentine Gallery, London, 1993. The dress has a ruched,
asymmetrical bodice with cap sleeves. The skirt is also ruched
horizontally, being caught up to a sash at the side which falls
beyond the hem.
On June 29th, 1994, Princess Diana was due to attend a dinner
hosted by Vanity Fair at the Serpentine Gallery. She purchased a
dress from the designer, Valentino. Much to Diana's displeasure
and, in what has since been described as crude opportunism, his
house released a premature, unauthorised press statement about
the dress. Princess Diana immediately changed her mind and
decided to wear one of her most important dresses - 'The
Revenge Dress'.
But Why Was It Called 'The Revenge Dress'?
In November of 1994, Princess Diana was in the middle of a
publicity storm following her separation from Prince Charles.
Instead of going into hiding (which let?s face it, would?ve been
much easier), the royal made headlines for an entirely different
reason? her dress. On the very night that Charles admitted to his
infidelity in a now infamous interview, Diana stepped out in a chic
black curve-hugging, off-the-shoulder dress (above)

Wit h
Christ ina St am bolian
Fashion designer, m ost not ably know n for t he "Revenge Dress" fam ously w orn
by HRH Princess Diana.
So Christ ina, t ell us a bit about yourself,
w here did you grow up?
I was born in Greece by Armenian parents so
Greek is my first language. I went to Greek
school from 6 till 12 years of age and then to a
Greek-French school from 12 till 18. After that
an Art College for 4 years in Athens, where I
finished a degree course in Art, Theatre
costume, Architecture, and fashion design.
What m ade you decide t o follow a career in
fashion? w hen did it st art ?
I loved fashion since I was a small child. The first
dresses I designed were for my only doll I had
at that time. Cinema and film stars inspired me
a lot those days. I collected photographs of
them, and I knew that one day that's what I was
going to be: A designer to glamorous women.
When w as your first professional job in t he
fashion indust ry? I came to London in 1970
and work as a fashion designer for four
deferent fashion houses until 1978. I was based
in London and in 1978 I was employed by D.P.
Designs, where I started designing under
my name ?Christina Stambolian? , producing
collection of approx. 80 samples of Day,
Cocktail, Evening and Wedding dresses each
season worn by High Society, TV and Film
personalities. I designed and produced 15 full
scale Cat Walk Shows at prestigious venues
such as Park Lane, Intercontinental, and
Claridges hotels. I was interviewed by various
TV Networks in UK, USA, and Greece. Having
extensively travelled the Far East, I have given
the opportunity to produce and supervise the
manufacture of Silk Separates, Lace,
embroidery and textile printing in Hong Kong
and Korea. My designs were sold under my
label in my Paris boutique 2 Rue de Tournon,
and in my London Kensington boutique 12
Beauchamp Place.
Do you have a favourit e design you have
creat ed?
I loved many of my creations. Of course Diana?s
?Revenge dress? was a success designed and
made skilfully with lots of hand pleating and
love, and that statuesque Diana in mind. So yes
is a piece that I am particularly proud of.
Talking about Diana, how did you com e
about designing t hat fam ous dress for her?
How did it st art ?
One day out of the blue Diana and her brother
Earl Spencer paid me a visit in my then
boutique in Beauchamp Place, Kensington.
Diana wonted me to design a dress for her for a
special occasion. I knew that as she was a very
beautiful woman she should wear a dress that
would do her beauty justice. Something
exquisite. Several weeks and two fittings
later the outcome of her visit was delivered to
her, cut to reveal her body quite unlike any style
she had worn before. She wore my dress two
years later to the Serpentine Gallery in June
1994, on the night Prince Charles admitted to
his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles in his
interview with Jonathan Dimbleby. Diana' s
dressing style changed over the years. She
started with conservative young outfits some of
them very busy and overpowering. As she got
older she became more aware of her beauty so
her fashion style improved remarkably,
definitely more feminine and glamorous. She
could also be stylish in casual sports wear.
Did Diana buy anyt hing else from your st ore
or ask you t o design anym ore?
When she came to my boutique she also
bought a woollen dress and two little silk tops.
Almost just after she got married I have seen
her on TV news wearing a long jersey forest
green dress of mine , she must of purchased it
from a shop we supplied dresses to that time. I
never designed anything else for her. But she
did write to me that she will definitely visit me
again soon, but unfortunately that did not
happen? . as she left us for ever soon after
that? .. So that was the end of the ?Diana belle
époque?? ? .
Do you have any advice for any young
persons w ishing t o follow in t he sam e
career?
My advice to young designers is that they
should find their personal characteristic style. It
is so important to be yourself as a designer
and stick to your own signature. Follow the
trend but keep your own identity, and always
think than ?the woman should wear the dress,
the dress should not wear the woman".
When you design for an individual make sure to
hide her imperfections and show clearly her
good points. That makes a successful designer.
A student designer should get a dressmaker' s
dummy and a sewing machine at home, and
make patterns on the dummy. Moulding and
draping fabrics of different texture on her. That
way you learn the feel of fabrics.Every fabric
needs different treatment.
Could you recom m end any schools for young
designers?
Because I studied art and fashion in Greece I
could not recommend best training and
education places for fashion studies. I guess St.
Martin' s has a very strong name for fashion.
Is t here anyt hing else you w ould like t o add?
I would like to point out that the famous
?Revenge dress? that started out as a daring
idea in my then boutique in Kensington is been
used for several worthy charitable causes so
far. That really makes me proud and happy.

DIANA'S LEGACY LIVES ON
Prince Harry (upper right) has disclosed
that he sought counseling after enduring
two years of ?total chaos? while still
struggling in his late twenties to come to
terms with the death of his mother
The Prince, now 32, turned to counselors
and even took up boxing
Prince Harry has decided to give an
unprecedented insight into his past in the
hope it will encourage people to break the
stigma surrounding mental health issues.
He has spoken to Bryony Gordon for the
first episode of her pod-cast, Mad World,
in which she will interview high-profile
guests about their mental health
experiences
The 30-minute conversation is one of the
most candid insights into the innermost
thoughts of a modern young member of
the Royal family. The Prince, together with
his brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and
Duchess of Cambridge, have set up Heads
Together, a charity which promotes good
mental well-being.
Prince Harry, who was 12 when his
mother died, says in the pod-cast that he
spent his teenage years and twenties
determined not to think about her.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and
Prince Harry are spearheading the Heads
Together campaign to end stigma around
mental health. Heads Together aims to
change the national conversation on
mental health and wellbeing, and is a
partnership with inspiring charities with
decades of experience in tackling stigma,
raising awareness, and providing vital help
for people with mental health challenges.
There has been huge progress made to
tackle stigma surrounding mental health
in recent decades, but it still remains a key
issue driven by negative associations,
experience and language. Through this
campaign, Their Royal Highnesses are
keen to build on the great work that is
already taking place across the country, to
ensure that people feel comfortable with
their everyday mental wellbeing, feel able
to support their friends and families
through difficult times, and that stigma no
longer prevents people getting help they
need.
Prince Harry combines a programme of
charitable activity alongside his public
service in support of The Queen,
undertaking official engagements in the
UK and overseas.
He is Patron of a number of organisations
and spends the majority of his charitable
work focusing on the welfare of
servicemen and women, championing
developmental opportunities for hard to
reach children and African conservation.
He co-founded the charity Sentebale with
Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in memory of
their mothers (Sentebale means ?Forget
me not?) to support orphans and
vulnerable children in Lesotho. Alongside
his brother and sister-in-law, he is also
Patron of The Royal Foundation of The
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and
Prince Harry.
In 2014, Prince Harry created and helped
organise the Invictus Games in London.
The Games are an international adaptive
sporting event for wounded, injured and
sick Servicemen and women. They use the
power of sport to inspire recover, support
rehabilitation and generate a wider
understanding and respect of all those
who serve their country. The inaugural
Invictus Games held in London saw over
400 competitors from 13 nations compete
in nine adaptive sports.

Campbell
Alastair John Campbell is a British journalist, broadcaster, political aide and
author, best known for his work As Prime Minister Tony Blair?s spokesman, press
secretary and director of communications and strategy, he was seconded to
Buckingham Palace to help with funeral arrangements of Princess Diana
Here, he remembers the events after Dianas fatal car crash, and he reveals how
Diana?s passing changed society and made a huge impact on the world .
Mr Campbell discloses his first meetings with Diana, Princess of Wales , and the
aftermath experienced dealing with funeral preparations
In his book Campbell describes the late Princess as
?Absolutely, spell-bindingly gorgeous ? her eyes locked on to you ? perfect skin ?
there were moments when I had to fight to hear the words because I was just lost
in the beauty.?
There was something about her eyes that went beyond radiance," he said. "They locked on to you
and were utterly mesmeric. She had perfect skin and her whole face lit upn when she spoke and
there were moments when I had to fight to hear the words because I?m just lost in the beauty
Alastair descibes Diana was a curious mix of fun (with a lovely girlish laugh, a beautiful
smile and the ability to take the mickey out of herself) and insecurity. He said that
over dinner she spoke of the boys and made it clear she wanted William to be King,
even if it meant skipping out Prince Charles

Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the
most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet
He thought that we, all of us, should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts
Smile Train is an international children?s charity with a sustainable approach to a single,
solvable problem: cleft lip and palate.
Millions of children in developing countries with untreated clefts live in isolation, but
more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft repair
surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Our sustainable model provides
training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries
to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own
communities.
We use the ?teach a man to fish? model focusing on training local doctors to perform
cleft repairs in their communities. Those doctors then go on to train other doctors
creating a long-term, sustainable system.
Patients see their smile for the first time, parents cry tears of joy, lives and communities
are changed forever.
As a result of our efficiency and with the support of our donors and partners around
CAN#'REDBUL' GIVEYOUW. HEARTATACKS??
THEY SAY THAT THE ENERGY DRINK 'RED
BULL' CAN GIVE YOU WINGS... BUT CAN
THEY ALSO GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK!?
One study published in Mayo Clinic
Proceedings found that Red Bull and similar
energy drinks could prove harmful to people
who have cardiovascular conditions, and can
also cause healthy people to experience
similar symptoms.
One trial consisted of giving 15 healthy test
participants two cans (500 ml) of an
unidentified energy drink almost identical to
Red Bull in terms of ingredients on a daily
basis for one week.
Researchers found that the test participant?s
blood pressure increased by 8% just four
hours after consuming the beverage, climbing
to 10% by the end of the week. They also
found that test participant?s heart rates
increased by 8% on the first day and reached
11% by the end of the week.
Both of these factors are associated with a
higher risk of experiencing a heart attack.
High blood pressure can damage the arteries
which leads to stroke and heart attack -
causing blood clots, and high heart rates have
frequently been associated with an increased
risk of heart attacks.
Red Bull Ingredient s
Aside from tons of sugar and carbonation,
Red Bull?s main ingredients are a variety of
stimulants, the main two being caffeine and
taurine, along with several B-group
vitamins.
Although these ingredients have not been
shown to cause very many adverse side
effects in the average person, very little
research has been done on the effect that
the combination of these ingredients has
on people.
Dangerous Red Bull Side Effect s
Another study published in the same
journal looked at the effect that Red Bull
had on people during and after exercise.
The study consisted of 13 participants who
were experienced in endurance training.
Researchers had them perform exhausting
exercise three times a day, and each time
before they exercised they would either
drink Red Bull, a drink similar to Red Bull
but without taurine, and a placebo without
any stimulants.
Researchers found that Red Bull was the
only drink that had any effect on a
participant?s stroke volume, which is the
amount of blood pumped in and
out of the heart. This shows that,
although the stimulants found in
Red Bull may not cause serious
side effects separately, when
combined they have significant
effects on the body?s
cardiovascular system, effects that
have been associated with
increased risk of heart attacks.
In conclusion, these studies
basically prove what most people
already know: Red Bull and energy
drinks like it are NOT good for your
heart.
If you need a quick pick-me-up,
stick to coffee or any other
beverage that has only one
stimulant, not the chemical
cocktails that these energy drink
companies are selling. Or, check
out natural, energy boosting
recipes.

Alternative Medicine Systems
Alternative Medicines & Today's
Society
Alt ernat ive Medicine: Is It Wort h
The Risk?
There has been a surge in recent
years of people looking to alternative
medicine for treatment of illness. It is
a practice that generates a great deal
of controversy both inside and
outside of the traditional world of
medicine, and an issue that some
experts say does not receive enough
attention.
What Is Alternative Medicine?
The most commonly accepted
definition of alternative medicine is a
treatment or substance that is
untested or unproven using accepted
scientific standards. Common types
of alternative medicine include herbs,
supplements, therapies and activity
programs that fall outside of
traditional medical practice and are
questionable in terms of safety and
effectiveness. For example,
acupuncture, massage, meditation,
herbal teas, and plant extracts are quite
popular forms of alternative medicine that
many medical doctors say are ineffective at
best and dangerous at worst for some
conditions.
Why Is Alternative Medicine So Popular?
Alternative medicine has grown in
popularity as more and more people face
the inevitable aches, pains and illnesses
that come with aging. In some cases,
traditional medicine has failed to produce a
cure and patients go in search of other
options for treatment of their illness. In
other cases, patients believe strongly that
natural methods of treating illness are
superior to traditional medicine so they
seek treatment from alternative
practitioners rather than medical doctors.
The Risks Of Alternative Medicine
Some of the greatest risks associated with
alternative medicine come from the use of
substances that are untested, ineffective,
and sometimes unsafe. The makers of
such substances often make exaggerated
claims of effectiveness and/or misrepresent
the science associated with the substance
in order to convince consumers to
buy their product, even if use of the
product may endanger the
consumer?s health or well-being.
For example, some herbal remedies
are promoted as having the ability to
improve memory, increase
metabolism, or even cure diseases
like cancer and heart disease. In
practice, though, some remedies may
actually cause physiological harm
when taken in excessive amounts,
ephedra being one well-publicized
recent example. Another risk is that a
person with a serious condition such
as cancer, heart disease or some
other chronic illness will forego more
traditional treatments that have been
proven effective in favor of alternative
treatments that are of questionable
value. They may be literally risking
their lives by treating illness with
unproven alternative medicines rather
than scientifically validated traditional
medicines.

DIET - WEIGHT LOSS
Fasting has been around for thousands of years, mostly practiced historically for
religious reasons, but modern dieters still turn to ?just saying no? to food of any sort
as a quick weight loss fix
A popular version of this is called the 5:2 diet, this is becoming popular in
the UK, which involves eating three normal meals per day, five days a
week and then, on two consecutive days, eat no more than 600 calories
total.
science is starting to back up the idea that it?s not what you eat, but when that
matters most
A study in the journal Cell Metabolism reports that when test mice were
restricted in the times they were allowed to eat (and not restricted on
calories, fat, or anything else) the result was leaner, healthier, more alert
mice. The theory as to why this might be has to do with your hormones
and an insulin-like hormone released when you eat that changes the way
your body functions.
?every-other-day fasting;? in essence, you can eat whatever you want on
the A days (yup: whatever you want) and on the B days, eat only 600
calories. In that study, subjects on the every other day diet improved their
cholesterol and blood sugar levels, lost weight, and cut many other
disease risk factors.
The ?Maple Syrup diet? that Beyonce went on before making Dreamgirls is
a fast. The process is hard on the body. When Beyoncé Knowles had to
lose weight quickly for her role in the film Dreamgirls she turned to the
Maple Syrup Diet (also known as the Lemonade Diet). This diet is a form
of fasting that helps you to start losing fat Kim Kardashian is another fan
of maple syrup diet .

sA True Wake-Up Call for Your Psyche!
Dr. Shaurice E. Mullins
It is 2017 and many of us truly need a wake-up call. If the
things we have done in the past have not worked for us, why
would we continue doing it expecting it to work? The truth is
many of us really need to revisit our present conditions and
circumstances and decide what we are going to do about
them. Yes... we need to decide!
You must believe in yourself. You possess the power and
authority over everything concerning your life. Do not be
afraid to get out of your comfort zone and go after what is
rightfully yours. It's in You. You possess the personal power
to have, do, or be whatever you desire! Do yourself a favor,
embrace change and try new things. Sometimes, change is
exactly what we need to get the ball rolling in our lives, and
rolling super-fast at that.
So where do you begin? Here are a few suggestions:
You see, excepting responsibility for your own personal
development and self-evolvement is the key. We must seek
to improve our way of life, if we actually expect it to improve.
Let's be real, we all come to a point in our lives where we
realize the things we are doing is just not working for us
anymore! We come to that fork in the road and just do not
know which way to go. That is when we really need someone
to get in our face, to just "tell it like it is". Well, I am known for
telling it like it is...so I might as well live up to my reputation.
So here goes...
1) Surround yourself with people who will inspire, motivate,
and empower you. Negative people tend to bring a bunch of
negativity and drama a long with them. Positive, motivated
and empowered people do positive things and it will
definitely rub off on you.
2) Dedicate some time every day to meditate and read
something positive. Do something that will challenge you to
think outside of the box. You will be surprised how fifteen
minutes a day of meditation and "power reading" will change
your life!
NOTHING IN YOUR LIFE IS EVER GOING TO CHANGE, UNTIL
YOU CHANGE THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE! GOT IT?
There is an old Navajo Proverb that says, "You can't wake a
person who is pretending to be asleep". In other words, if
you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you
are going to have to do is wake up. Wake up to the things
that are truly going on around you. Realize that the things
you have been doing is not working for you. They never have
and they never will. Get focused and make up your mind that
you are going to do something about it. Don't just lie down
like a sick dog and let your current circumstances drain you
or defeat you. Dig deeper... and when you get tired keep
digging!
ht t p:/ / shauricem ullins.com
3) REAL success takes determination and dedication. NO
GAMES! Get serious about making the best of your life. If you
want different, you've got to do things different. You are
powerful beyond measure. You possess the personal power
to have, do, or be whatever you desire. Get moving and get
about it. Remember, procrastination is the assassination or
your manifestations.
GET MOVING! JUST DO IT!
Sout h Tyneside Lifest yle Choices C.I.C. is a free weight loss advice and support service that was founded in April by
Director Julie Stephenson, and with the support of Directors Claire Graham and Julie Simpson the business is now thriving.
The service was well needed in the area as South Tyneside has one of the highest obesity rates in the UK. Consequently
following a lifelong battle with obesity in 2005 Julie Stephenson` s uncle Andrew Bond (pictured) lost his life aged only 41
suffering a heart attack caused by morbid obesity. Julie says: "it's so dreadfully upsetting as Andrew had wanted to lose
weight once he had realised how serious his situation was, unfortunately for Andrew it was too late". Julie went on to study
Sport and Exercise Sciences at University of Sunderland, where she became engrossed in the subject of weight management
and studied this in depth as part of her final year project. People are living a very poor quality of life due to weight issues and
as a result some people are dying prematurely, when given the correct advice and support this is highly preventable!
Julie adds:"Educating individuals so they understand the importance of good nutrition and benefits to exercise participation
is paramount, but there are many variables to consider, and each individual may require a different approach". As well as
offering advice during the FREE weekly meeting individuals can also get personal advice. They meet every Saturday at New
Hope Church, Robinson Street, Westoe in South Shields 9.30-10.30am. They offer FREE professional advice and support as
well as the option to get weighed and measured all services are free but any donations will help cover cost of room hire and
equipment, as a registered not for profit organisation any profits are re-invested back into the business. The company have
been highly successful in obtaining funding and support from local businesses. The have had support from ASDA, Wilkinsons,
Community Corner, Greenshift Education Services, Kate's Slimming and Fitness and Guilt Free Kitchen. Julie Stephenson says'
we simply could not do it without all the ongoing valuable support'. Last year the company designed a Heart health
programme which was delivered in partnership with Angel Harrison from Greenshift Education Services. The programme was
funded by Heart Research UK with a £10,000 grant. The programme was delivered to 24 primary schools across the borough
focusing on year 5 children. Feedback from the children, parents and schools was very positive. The company have just been
successful in obtaining £8,892 from the Big Lotto with an Awards for all grant. The grant will allow them to deliver a weekly
weight loss session and monthly healthy cooking classes.
The cooking classes will be held at South Tyneside College monthly at various dates.
Khan's story is one of a heroic dog
rescued from a shelter. Back in 2007, the
rescued Doberman Pinscher was at his
new home for just four days before he
repaid his owners' kindness by saving
their daughter from a deadly snake
attack.
Seventeen-month-old Charlotte Svillcic
was playing in the garden of her home in
Cairns, Australia when Khan began to
behave oddly. The dog had spotted a
king brown snake, the world's third most
venomous serpent, and the snake was
readying to strike the girl from its hiding
place beneath the family home.
What happened next was difficult for
Charlotte's mother, Catherine to believe.
"If I had not seen it with my own eyes I
would never have believed it," she said.
"Khan was really concentrating and was
acting aggressively towards Charlotte -
and kept trying to nudge her but it
wasn't working," Catherine said. So he
grabbed her by the back of the nappy
and threw her over his shoulder more
than a metre, like she was a rag doll."
Just as Khan had tossed Charlotte to
safety, the snake darted out and bit
Khan in the paw. "Charlotte looked
pretty shocked and Khan screamed, like
he'd been stabbed," said Catherine. It
wasn't until afterwards that Catherine
realized Khan had been attempting to
get between her daughter and the snake
before he threw her. Khan was rushed to
the emergency hospital and
administered anti-venom.
Thankfully, after one night of being very
sick, Khan made a full recovery. The dog
who had been unwanted just a week
before was now "Khan the Wonder Dog"
to his family. They knew for certain he
had saved Charlotte's life by risking his
own.

ENTREPRENEUR

KFC's mastermind Colon Sanders followed an unlikely path
to creating a multi billion-dollar international company.
Like most successful entrepreneurs Sanders has a story
behind his success and like many he experienced some real
hardships in life and describes feeling like a failure .
Best known for founding the fast-food chain Kentucky Fried
Chicken, Colonel Harland David Sanders was born on
September 9, 1890, in Henryville, Indiana. One summer
afternoon in 1895, his father came home with a fever and
died later that day. After his father died when he was 6
years old, Sanders became responsible for feeding and
taking care of his younger brother and sister
He felt like a failure & decided to commit suicide. He sat
writing his will, but instead, he wrote what he would have
accomplished with his life & thought about how good of a
cook he was. So he borrowed $87 fried up some chicken
using his recipe, went door to door to sell. This was all
during the time of the Great Depression.
At the age of 40, Sanders was running a popular Kentucky
service station that also served food? so popular, in fact,
that the governor of Kentucky designated him a Kentucky
colonel.
At age 88 Colonel Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried
Chicken (KFC) Empire was a billionaire.
Nearly 60-years-old, he would spend days at a restaurant,
peddling his chicken technique, cooking for customers, and
often sleeping in the back of his car
Kentucky Fried Chicken went public in 1966 and
was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in
1969. More than 3,500 franchised and
company-owned restaurants were in worldwide
operation when Heublein Inc. acquired KFC
Corporation in 1971for $285 million
LIFE IN BRIEF
- At age 6 his Father died,
- At age 16 he quit school
- At age 17 he had already lost four
jobs
- At age 18 he got married
- He joined the army and washed
out there.
- At age 20 his wife left him and
took their baby
- He became a cook in a small cafe
and convinced his wife to return
home.
- At age 65 he retired.

MARCO
ROBINSON
Marco?s childhood was traumatic; at 2 years old, his mum left his dad, due to his addiction
to gambling. Every week his mum would have to work four jobs just to pay the bills and
put food on the table while his dad blew his salary on gambling. Marco and his mum
would regularly move between towns and schools, and not really make any friends. They
even had to sleep in the park at times to survive. Then his mum entered a relationship in
the hope there would be stability. Unfortunately, it regularly turned violent and abusive
and they were on the road again. Marco didn?t have any much schooling and left his last
school at 16, getting a cleaning job and shared a friend?s house to survive. His mum found
the right guy eventually, but through all his struggles as a kid, he knew he was the only
person who could take responsibility for his own life.
He moved from job to job, eventually settling in direct sales, but he was the worst
salesperson as he simply had no confidence at all. One day the company?s top salesman
said to him, ?You have something inside of you, some fire, you have real talent, you can?t
see it, I do. I want you to read this book I read that helped me overcome my fears, but tell
no-one, just read it and read it again until you get the message.? Marco read the book 8
times and became salesperson of the year. He had so much confidence, he told his first
clients he was going to sell them timeshare, to which they declined. Four hours later, they
bought and handed over $10,000. Marco was shocked to the core and asked his buyers
why they bought from him, which they replied that they saw that he believed in the
product, so they wanted it. He never forgot that moment.
He went on to succeed, but not without tremendous struggle and hardship. Although he
reached the top of the corporate ladder, he lost his job and struggled to become an
entrepreneur with failure after failure. His 15-year marriage failed even though he has
two beautiful children who were doing well. He left his wife after trying many times to
save his marriage and all he had was a 20 year old Volvo and an old laptop. He wrote a
book about his life, ?Close the Deal & Suddenly Grow Rich?, which became a #1 bestseller
and he was again shocked to the core. He wrote it based on his past success as a
salesperson and selling a billion dollars?worth of products in 10 years.

Tips from leading
Ent repreneurs
1. Don?t reinvent the wheel. Build a team of coaches, mentors, and advisers
Many of our wealthiest clients will be the first to admit they are not financial
or business geniuses. They credit a great deal of their success to their ability
to separate emotion from their business decisions. One of the ways that they
are able to do that is by surrounding themselves with competent advisers and
following their advisers' proven systems and processes. Advisers help them
limit risk, leverage turnkey solutions for achieving their goals faster, and force
them to take immediate action toward their goals.
2. Expand your vision and belief system
Compared to our clients of more modest means, our wealthiest clients tended
to think bigger, be more confident in their ability, and take decisive action. By
contrast, clients of lower means had a greater tendency to procrastinate even
when decisions did not require money. Th.
3. Increase your income by cultivating your network
Our wealthiest clients tended to make networking a priority. Most were active
networkers and attended multiple networking events throughout the year
5. Expand your knowledge and skills
Our wealthiest clients believe in continuous learning. They are always reading,
listening to audios, watching training videos, attending seminars, developing
new skills, and looking for ways to apply timeless wealth-building and
business-success principles to emerging trends
6. Invest in tools, systems, and resources that will save you time and increase your
productivity
Our wealthiest clients know the precise dollar value of their time, and treat it
as their most valuable asset. They actively seek out and invest in technologies,
systems, and training that will help them save time and increase their
productivity

ARTICLE BY HELENA WEBBER
Being a vocal coach Singer / Songw rit er
have given m e t he opport unit y t o m eet
a lot of very Talent ed people from t he
around 10 Years ago I had a Vocal
Consult at ion w it h an out st anding
Singer / Songw rit er from t he Nort h East
called HOWARD BAKER
In his Native North East and also
Internationaly , amongst many other
acheivments Reaching No One in the word
Wide Blues Charts has brought him Fame
and recognition In Britain France and
America . Howards career Spans over
Decades .. The Secret to his Ongoing
succsses is He never Stands still always
moving forward continuing to write and
Record new Material and Taking on New
Musical Progects ..When you speak to him
about His Talent He Just Says
"It's what I do" just Amazing !! Hes forever
Being offered new projects .. One leading
agent from the North East quoted to me
we will be lucky to get Howard Baker for
the night i think that says it all ... I could
write a Book on Howard Bakers Career.
Maybe at some point i will .
Howard Came from A mining family and
spent 18 Months Down the Mine , He left
home at 16 Joined the Navy and went to
sea for 6 years .in that time He taught
Himself to Play guitar he had a few
musical people in his Family. He went on
to do Busking in Hawaii, Austria and Brazil.
At 22 he decided to go for a professional
career in Music and began writing lyrics
and making plans to launch His career and
At the age of 24 Years he performed at his
first gig which took place in his Native
North East. By 1972 he had become a
highly sought after Artist. His Musical
Influences Include Paul Rogers, Andrea
Bocelli, and Little Richard, a very Eclectic
Mix of Genres which has gone into
Howard's hugely versatile voice .
He told me he believes no Matter how
good a natural Singer is they Must have
some Vocal Training to show the voice at
its best .. When i first heard him sing my
comments included his excellent use of
vowels and vocal placement which he uses
to his full advantage. Howard knows the
importance of doing warm ups before a
show and never fails to do them ... A note
for all singers !! He told me he always
Starts practicing in low key Songs and
them Moves out of his comfort range. He
believes that every singer needs a mentor
or someone to motivate them; I totally
agree with him. As, being a mentor to my
singing students, has been a hugely
important part of my work.
Howard recommends every up and
coming singer to watch professional
artists at work; and interestingly said to
include Opera singers who have huge
demands on the voice and how crucial it is
to use correct posture and voice control
and highly efficient breathing to power,
project and protect the voice.

M: Would you say your Gran w as a
great influence on you?
J: Yes, both my Grandma?s were hugely
M: How old w ere you w hen you
J: I entered my first competition when I
was 16 called Miss 24 Carat. Miss 24
Carat was a qualifier into the Miss
England Grand Final. There are a number
of different rounds; finalists can
accumulate their points as well as how
they are marked on their performance on
the night. The two most important
rounds in my opinion were ?Miss Charity?
showed the work you put in as a finalist
before the actual finale as well as being
able to raise money for charities in need.
enough that particular trend will change
again. Always be yourself, it sounds cliché
Some of the most famous models are the
most unique looking.
M: What w as your favourit e part
J: My favourite part in competing is
definitely the experience you gain. I?ve
had the opportunity to participate in
some amazing charitable events that I
wouldn?t have had the chance had I not
competed. They?ve helped with my
confidence and provided me with a great
.M: What w ould surprise people t he
J: The hard work behind the scenes would
be the most surprising. People who come
only get to see the end product. If they
running for Miss Universe Great Britain, I
felt privileged to be a finalist with
amazing girls.
M: What ?s next in t he Pipeline?
J: I?m hoping to visit Zambia to volunteer
towards a project to build a three class
room school for the children which
already has an attendance of 500 pupils.
Not only will the classrooms create a
better educational environment for the
children but also create 20 jobs for
people in unemployment.

PAIGE EVANS
MY STORY
I have always been a shy girl,
but throughout secondary
school it got worse. I started
to get bullied and I developed
anxiety. I struggled to talk to
people, I pretty much only
spoke when spoken to. In
March 2016 my sister Loren
took part in an international
pageant called Galaxy. Whilst
watching her I was so proud,
she was competing in front of
hundreds of people. I said to
my dad ?I could never do
something like that?, when in
fact this was a new start for
me. In July 2016 my dad
persuaded me to send off an
application to the Galaxy,
which included a photo of
myself. In complete shock, a
few weeks later I received an
acceptance email and got the
title of Miss Newcastle Galaxy
2016-2017. I received my sash
a couple of weeks later and
started making appearances,
several of them were
photoshoots. At this point I
was so nervous and shy; I had
never got photos done in a
studio before. I managed to
pluck up the courage to get
photos of myself produced;
this is where it all started to
change for me. During my
reign as Miss Newcastle
Galaxy I raised money for The
Christie Cancer foundation,
volunteered and went along
to various different charity
events. In February 2017 I
held my own charity pageant
in aid of the Christie
foundation; I stood up in front
of the audience and hosted
the full event, this was huge
for me. In March 2017 it came
to the day of the Galaxy, I felt
sick all day with nerves. When
I got first time, I had all kinds
of thoughts going through my
mind, such as: what if I trip?
and I don?t know if I am able
to do this, but I did. I gave the
competition my all and
although I didn?t win, I was so
proud of myself for how well I
did on that stage. I made my
parents proud of me. Since
then, I came 2nd in The A
Pageant Life pageant, 1st
place in Miss Teesside
Elegance and now your Miss
Newcastle National Elite
2017-2018. I am now the
director of Sapphire UK
Pageant, which I am currently
working on making it a
national pageant in its own.
Pageantry has had an amazing
impact on my life and is now
something I never want to
give up doing. I have not only
gained a massive amount of
confidence, I have gained
friends that I will have for life.
Pageantry is like having one
big family, everyone is there to
support each other. To all the
girls out there interested in
pageantry, go for it. It is a life
changing experience and it
has certainly changed mine in
a big way. It is a journey you
will never forget.

Alexandra Burke
Alexandra Imelda Cecelia Ewen Burke is a British singer and
stage actress. Burke rose to fame after winning the fifth
series of British television series The X Factor in 2008,
becoming one of the most successful winners of the series
After winning The X Factor, Alexandra released the winner?s
single ?Hallelujah?, which became the current European
record holder for single sales over a period of 24 hours,
selling 105,000 in one day. The song also became the
top-selling single of 2008 in the UK and the UK?s Christmas
number one. By January 2009, the single had sold over one
million copies in the UK alone, a first for a British female
soloist. Her debut album, Overcome debuted at number one
in the UK Album Charts and spawned four number one
singles on the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart ?
?Hallelujah?, ?Bad Boys?, selling over 780,000 in the UK and
becoming a Platinum selling single, ?All Night Long?and ?Start
Without You?. The album became one of the most successful
albums of that year in the UK and the singles released from
Deluxe Edition which was followed by ?Elephant?with Eric
peak position of number three in the UK. ?Let It Go?served
as the second single and Alexandra?s second album,
Heartbreak on Hold, was released in June 2012. In May 2015
Alexandra released her self funded EP ?Renegade?which has
received critical acclaim. Alex is currently putting the
finishing touches to her new album which is scheduled for
release in late 2017.
In 2014 Alexandra made her full West End debut when she
played the lead role of Rachel Marron in the much
acclaimed musical The Bodyguard. The reviews for her
performance were stellar, so much so that she was asked to
carry on the role for the UK tour of the production.
In August 2016, Alexandra stepped into the lead role as
Deloris Van Carter in the musical Sister Act touring in the UK
for an all new production. The show received 5 star reviews
to sell out crowds and finished in August 2017.
Alexandra is thrilled to be in this year?s line up for the BBC1
prime time show ?Strictly Come Dancing?2017.

RIP Bruce Forsyt h
Sir Bruce Forsyth was the perfect host for Strictly, bringing a genuine warmth
and an air of expertise all in the one package. And paired with co-host Tess Daly,
Strictly had created a brand new double act that the nation took to its heart.
Brucie?s fast wit came in handy when it came to the Judges. More often than not,
some of their more irate comments would be shot down by a quip from Bruce.
After 75 successful years in showbusiness, Bruce retired from the show in series
11, but remained a key part of the Strictly family returning for Christmas and
and specials events. Bruces's , humour and warmth helped set the tone of
Strictly, something which has been carried through every series, every spin-off
and every special. Bruce Forsyth was, and will continue to be, a huge part of
Strictly Come Dancing.

Pageant
Bullying is what I would call a
way of ?getting over
jealousy?. People, any age,
shape or size, bully others
mainly for jealousy or family
issues. I have been bullied
for nearly eight years,
nursery to year 6.
It felt relentless, like I was in
a black hole, traumatised by
their actions which seemed
to occur faster than lights.
Sometimes I felt like I was in
a bouncy castle having fun
then the bullies would burst
the bouncy castle and my
fun, leaving me feeling
trapped inside with no fun,
no air.
Verbal, cyber, physical ? ..
you name it and I?ve had it.
Dragged; punched; attacked.
You can be forgiven to think
by my picture, I had a pink
and cuddly past. Not at all,
nowhere near.
One day, I asked to go to the
lavatory at break time and
there waiting were three of
the toughest bullies in my
class. They attacked me,
pulled my hair, scratched all
down my arms and face
then dragged me along the
bathroom floor. I lay there a
long time after they left,
afraid to move in case they
were waiting for me
For years, I hid my agonising
emotions. In year 1, I was
traumatised. By year 4, I was
shaking. Mum organised
sessions with school nurses
and adults who ?thought?
they knew how I felt. No one
knew how I was dying inside.
Friends who I thought were
there for me, left my life.
Enemies gained more power
against me, I felt weak to the
core.
Then one day, Mum?s friend
Lorraine was planning a
Pageant. What were they?
Mum said I should do this
pageant and have fun. Ok,
but what are they? I found
out pageants are events like
catwalks where there?s a
certain amount of rounds
and you wear t-shirts,
jeans, dresses. Hmm, I liked
the sound of that! I went to
the event and it was
amazing! Couldn?t have been
any better at all! I felt safe in
this environment and made
lots of lovely friends. Every
pageant enlightened my day.
But I was still going back to
enlightened my day. But I
was still going back to
bullies. I moved school, to a
school that didn?t tolerate
bullies and I was happy.
Later that year, I was invited
to one of the meanest
bullies party. People would
say she was the last bully
you would want to cross
The week before the party,
she cyber bullied me, but I
stood up to her with the
courage and confidence I
had now gained.
My pageant family are all so
supportive. The older more
experienced girls show you
how to walk with confidence
and what to expect, you
even get tips on doing
interviews. I also discovered
the true meaning to my life
which guides me: be the
best version of you, be true
to yourself
My friends, nowadays say
they can?t imagine me as a
victim of bullying. That was
because I held it in, then
would cry myself to sleep,
bottling it up. That's one way
loads of victims do, if they
can?t handle it.
you had told me two years
ago I would be representing
Durham as a grand finalist in
Little Miss Teen Great Britain
2017. I would have said ?No
way! You?re crazy!? But that's
exactly what I?m doing in
October. Pageants have
given me strength and so
much confidence, I managed
to stand up to the meangirls.
After that, they forgot about
me, knowing I was no longer
weak and helpless. Good
riddance! Thanks pageants!
Now I know who my real
friends are .

GAMEOFTHRONES: RECAP
With Season 7 starting not so long ago, we look
back at the excitement previously seen from the
start to end of season 6.
SEASON ONE: ENTER THE 'DRAGON LADY'.
North of the Wall, a patrol of the cloistered
Night's Watch order is ambushed by undead
'White Walkers'. One of the men escapes south
where, for his troubles, he is beheaded by the
Lord of Winterfell Eddard "Ned" Start (actor SEAN
BEAN).
Noble Ned dismisses the babblings about
animated corpses and insists it is solemn duty
to execute the deserter in person. However,
traitorous soldiers are soon the least of his
worries. Hundreds of miles to the south in King's
Landing, "Hand of the King" Jon Arryn dies in
mysterious circumstances. This is obviously bad
news for Jon Arryn but opens a new career
opportunity for Ned, as his old friend, King
Robert Baratheon (actor MARK ADDY), travels to
Winterfell and offers to make the Warden of the
North the new Hand of the King.
There are a few sticking points. For one thing,
Ned has no interest in becoming entangled in
courtly intrigue at the capital. And Robert has
brought with him his loathsome extended
family. These include cruel Queen Cersei of the
powerful House Lannister, her dashing but
self-regarding twin Ser Jaime (actor NIKOLAJ
COSTER-WALDAU) and their
prostitute-fraternising sibling Tyrion (actor
PETER DINKLAGE)
Most unpleasant of all is Robert's ghastly son
and heir Joffrey (actor JACK GLEESON) ? literally
a spoiled prince whose brattish temperament
could not be more different from that of the
garrulous, profane Robert (it's almost as if they
are not related? ).
Still, if things are bad for Ned ? who resists
Robert's offer but is made to understand he
really doesn't have a choice ? they are worse for
his son Bran (actor ISAAC HEMPSTEAD WRIGHT).
Climbing a tower, the adorable poppet happens
upon Cersei canoodling with Jaime ? yes, her
twin!. "The things I do for love," sighs Jaime,
shoving Bran out the window to his presumed
death.
Somehow the boy survives ? albeit crippled for
life and in a temporary coma. While mother
Catelyn sits by his bed, Ned, Robert and their
retinues depart for King's Landing. With Ned are
his daughters Sansa (flighty, fashion-conscious,
bafflingly besotted with Joffrey) and feisty little
Arya (actress MAISIE WILLIAMS). Also saying
farewell to the family home is Jon Snow, Ned's
"bastard" son, openly loathed by Catelyn. He is
to travel north to the Wall and join the
semi-monastic Night's Watch, whose solemn is
to guard the ancient rampart. Jon knows nothing
of his mother and Ned vows to at last share the
truth when next they meet (yes, one of them
dies).
Across the Narrow Sea and far from the courtly
scheming of Westeros, Princess Daenerys
Targaryen is about to be married off to
barbarian warlord Khal Drogo (actor JASON
MOMOA). A union between the wide-eyed,
partially clothed Daenerys and the brutish
Drogo has been arranged by the Princess's
unpleasant (even by Prince Joffrey standards)
brother Viserys (actor HARRY LLOYD).
As the sole surviving children of the Mad King
who once ruled Westeros - and was violently
deposed by the Baratheon's and Stark's in
"Robert's Rebellion" - Viserys believes the Iron
Throne is his to reclaim. Awkwardly he's
whimpy, vain and lacks an army. Not much to be
done about the first two - however, hitching
Daenerys to Drogo Back in Westeros, New 'Hand
of The King' is suprised will put at his disposal
the Khal's Dothraki hordes and, all going to
schedule, unleash the Targaryen "dragon".
Back in Westeros, new Hand of the King Ned is
surprised when his wife Catelyn arrives at King's
Landing. She has received a letter from her
sister (also Jon Arryn's widow) ? claiming the
Lannister's killed Ned's predecessor (Catelyn
believes they later dispatched the assassin who
unsuccessfully attempt to finish off stricken
Bran).
So, the Starks are about to lose a crucial ally.
Robert, a serial philander in a sham marriage
with Cersei, dies during a boar hunt, with his
wife having apparently drugged his wine.
This is unfortunate timing as Ned has
discovered that Joffrey isn't Robert's biological
son. Confronted, Cersei admits Jaime is the
father of all her children. But naive Ned has
underestimated his enemies. With Joffrey to be
King, Eddard is arrested for treachery and
executed ? in view of daughters Sansa (in a
be-careful-what-you-wish-for twist she is now
betrothed to loathsome Joffrey) and Arya,
watching in disguise before fleeing for her life.
n Essos, Daenerys surprises herself by taking to
the life of a Khal's wife. Also surprised is Viserys.
No longer in control his sister he is executed by
the Dothraki (big fans of dramatic irony, the
horsemen pour a "crown" of molten gold over
on his head).
Yet the lot of a blood-thirsty warlord can be
challenging and Khal sustains fatal wounds in
battle. Into his funeral bonfire steps Daenerys

with the three dragon eggs she received as a
wedding gift. She emerges unharmed ? this
being Game of Thrones her clothes obviously
aren't so lucky ? while the eggs have hatched
into baby dragons.
SEASON TWO:THE IMP STEPS UP
With Joffrey king and headless Ned very much
dead, Westeros is gripped by rebellion. In the
North Ned's eldest son Robb (Richard Madden)
has declared war, taking prisoner Jaime
Lannister in an early skirmish. Likewise intent on
unseating Joffrey is Robert Baratheon's brother
Stannis (Stephen Dillane). He is more dutiful and
level-headed than Robert (good), but also
convinced he is marked for greatness by the
"Lord of Light" ? a pagan deity demanding
human sacrifice (not good). Just how not good
this quickly becomes obvious. His supernatural
counsellor Melisandre (Carice van Houten)
sends a "smoke monster" to kill Renly
Baratheon (Gethin Anthony), Stannis's dear
brother and rival for the throne. Meanwhile,
anyone daring speak against the Lord of Light is
likely to end up strapped to a pyre and
subjected to impromptu barbecuing.
Robb likewise demonstrates questionable
judgement as he sends childhood chum Theon
(Alfie Allen) ? a prince of the Iron Isles raised in
Winterfell ? back to his maritime home to gain
the support of father Balon. Rather than rallying
to the Stark banner, Balon guilt-trips Theon ,
who opportunistically seizes Winterfell for the
Greyjoys. Bran is forced to flee north with his
simple-minded minder Hodor (Theon hangs two
farmer boys in the place of Bran and
brother Rickon).
Also on the run is Arya Stark who fetches up at
the fortress of Harrenhal where Tywin Lannister
(Charles Dance), patriarch of the most Evil
Family in Westeros, unwittingly appoints the
disguised princess his cup-bearer. She later
flees, with the assistance of the mysterious
Jaqen H'ghar (Thomas Wlaschiha) of the Faceless
Men of Essos.
Over on the eastern continent, it's proving a
long and aimless road of Daenerys, her baby
dragons and shrinking Dothraki army. Eventually
they make their way to the desert City of Qarth
where they are befriended by silver-tongued
merchant Xaro Daxos. However, they are
ultimately betrayed by Daxos, in cahoots with
the warlock Pyat Pree. With her dragons Cersei
defeats the sorcerer and seals Daxos (along with
her traitorous servant Doreah) in a tomb. Don't
muck about with the Mother of Dragons.
Elsewhere, what will become known as the War
of the Five Kings rumbles on. As Robb plots his
next move against the Lannisters, Catelyn sets
Jamie free. He is to be escorted to King's Landing
by Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) ?
Renly's loyal former bodyguard ? in the hope of
securing the release of Sansa and Arya. On a
scouting mission north of the Wall Jon is
kidnapped by the Wildling Ygritte (Rose Leslie) ?
a meet-cute that sets in train a tragic love affair.
No such excitement awaits the other Rangers of
the Watch, as they are attacked by the White
Walkers and their servant wights.
In King's Landing, Stannis's invasion fleet has
hoved into view. With useless Joffrey in charge,
everyone expects the worst (especially Cersei,
who paints for Sansa a bleak picture of the
treatment they can expect). Hand of the King
Tyrion has a cunning plan, however. As Joffrey
weeps like the wimp he is, his uncle repels
Stannis's forces with explosive wildfire, stocks of
which the Mad King concealed beneath the city.
It's enough to keep the enemies at bay until
Tywin Lannister gallops to the rescue.
SEASON THREE: THE LANNISTERS SEND THEIR
REGARDS
Having saved King's Landing from Stannis,
Tyrion is promptly demoted by his disapproving
father (who has never forgiven his son for
claiming this mother in childbirth and for
possessing a functioning moral compass).
Rather more popular in the capital is the
ambitious Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer).
Renly's widow has displaced Sansa and is now
betrothed to Joffrey. Sansa, Tywin has decreed,
will be married off to the reluctant Tyrion (with
uncommon decency he declines to consummate
the nuptials).
Far to the north, Jon Snow finally meets the
Wildling's semi-mythic King beyond the Wall
Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds) and agrees they
have a common enemy in the Walkers.
Things are going less well for Theon Greyjoy,
whose botched conquest of Winterfell has seen
him fallen into the clutches of a mysterious
torturer. However, the true losers this season
are Robb and Catelyn Stark (Michelle Farley).
After falling in love with healer Talisa (Oona
Chaplin), Robb backs out of an arranged
marriage to Roslin, daughter of his ally Lord
Walder Frey. She will instead be hitched to
Edmure Tully ? and the Starks are invited!
Thus is the table set for the notorious Red
Wedding. The Freys and Boltons, striking a
secret deal on Tywin Lannister, turn on the
Starks, cutting down Catelyn, Robb and Robb's
pregnant intended. "The Lannisters send their
regards," snarls Roose Bolton as he stabs Talisa
in the womb.
Arriving in time for the butchery is Arya Stark,
reluctantly taken under the wing of the "Hound"
Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann), formerly
Joffrey's personal butcher. With the rest of the
family dead or in jeopardy, meanwhile Bran
continues north. Haunted by visions he resolves
to go beyond the Wall and find the "Three-Eyed
Raven", who holds the secret to his burgeoning
ability to project his mind into the body of a dire
wolf. He is accompanied by Hodor and two new
companions, Meera and Jojen Reed.
Elsewhere, Daenerys's plans to conquer
Westeros gather momentum. On her
wanderings across Essos, she garners an army
of "Unsullied" warriors and receives counsel
from two disillusioned refugees from the Seven
Kingdoms. Ser Barriston Selmy and Jorah
Mormont (Iain Glen). With the cities of Slavers
Bay falling to her one by one, a new power is
rising in the East. How long before it turns its
attention West?
SEASON FOUR: JOFFREY EATS HUMBLE PIE
A new season welcomes a fresh face to King's
Landing. Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal), dashing
prince of Dorne, arrives at the capital for the
marriage of Joffrey and Margaery (and also to
take vengeance against the Lannisters, whom he
holds responsible for the death of his sister).
But Joffrey's wedding doesn't go quite as
planned. He is poisoned and topples over
before he has had a chance to toast his new
bride. Also exiting King's Landing, albeit by less
bloody means, is Sansa, smuggled to freedom
by slippery Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish
(Aidan Turner) and Margaery's wily grandmother
Lady Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg). We will later
discover they conspired to kill Joffrey, so sparing
Margaery being hitched to a brute.
At the Eyrie Sansa falls foul of mad Aunt Lysa
who attempts to push her niece through a Moon
Door. She is rescued by Littlefinger, with Lord
Baelish instead sending Lady Arryn, with whom
he has entered an arranged marriage, to her
gravity-assisted demise.
Up north Jon Snow warns the Night's Watch that
Mance Rayder intends to attack. An epic battle
ensues and Jon and Ygritte's relationship hits an
awkward patch as she tries to cut him down
with an arrow. With the Wildlings temporarily
repulsed, Jon sneaks off to kill Rayder ? only for
Stannis Baratheon and his forces to ride to the
rescue of the Night's Watch.
Back at King's Landing, the innocent Tyrion is
accused of assassinating Joffrey. The case is to
be decided with trial by combat. However, his
champion Oberyn is cut down by the
"Mountain" Gregor Clegane (Sandor's hulking
brother). Later, Jaime releases his brother who
sneaks back to his chambers to find his lover

Shae has been canoodling with Tyrion?s father Tywin. Tyrion shoots his
dad on the latrine and, aided by Master of Whispers Varys, flees
Westeros.
Also quitting the Western continent is Arya. She witnesses an apparent
fight to the death between Sandor and Brienne (who, having failed
Catelyn, has sworn to protect any Stark crossing her path). Exhibiting
uncharacteristic cruelty, Arya leaves Sandor to his fate and crosses the
Narrow Sea to study with Jaqan H'ghar's Faceless Men.
SEASON FIVE: THE NIGHT'S KING SHOWS HIS HAND
by Cersei's champion, they fear Myrcella is in imminent danger from the
Martell family. She is safely retrieved ? but poisoned as they set off for
home.
Up north, the terrifying extent of the threat posed by the Walkers is
revealed as the Night's King attacks Jon Snow and his men at a Wildling
encampment. Alas, his warnings are not heeded back at the Wall where
senior members of the Watch kill Snow as revenge for his traitorous
alliance with the Free Folk.
In Essos Daenerys's hold on the city of Meereen slips when the Sons of
the Harpy stage an ambush at a grand gladiatorial bout. She is rescued
by her dragon Drogon and swept away to destination unknown. Her new
adviser Tyrion ? smuggled across the narrow sea to Essos by Varys ? will
rule in her stead as Ser Jorah and her lover Daario set off on her trail ( Ser
Jorah is utterly smitten with Daenerys, of course).
SEASON SIX: THE BASTARD'S BATTLE
With Joffrey dead, Margaery marries his younger brother Tommen - to
the disgust of Cersei , who has developed an enthusiastic loathing for her
daughter-in-law.
Never one to tread softly, Stannis burns the King Beyond the Wall at the
stake ? punishment for refusing to swear fealty. Meanwhile Jon Snow is
elected leader of the Night's Watch ? to the visible disapproval of the
senior members of the order. Sansa and Littlefinger leave The Vale ? but
where are they bound? That would be a surprise, intimates Littlefinger.
Actually it is a surprise. He intends marrying Sansa off to horrible Ramsay
Bolton ( Iwan Rheon), thus restoring a Stark to Winterfell (albeit by the
back door). In her former family home, Sansa is horrified to find Theon ?
now the broken and half insane plaything of Ramsay (his mystery
torturer). She is brutally abused on her wedding night by the sadistic
younger Bolton ? with Theon (re-named Reek by Ramsay) forced to
watch.
Stannis marches south towards Winterfell. With Winter coming, heavy
snow threatens his war against Ramsay. He is urged by Melisandre to
sacrifice daughter Shireen to the Lord of Light. Stannis reluctantly
complies and the weather indeed turns. Alas his troops, not wishing to
fight for a religious maniac, desert and he is easily defeated by the
Boltons. In the aftermath of the battle he is discovered by Brienne ? who
fulfils her vow to avenge Renly's death by cutting down the man
instrumental in his killing.
In Essos, Arya is accepted into the mysterious House of Black and White?
though proves slow to subsume her identity into the collective of the
Faceless Men. That she has much to learn before becoming ?no one? is
confirmed as she catches sight of Ser Meryn Trant, the sadistic knight of
the Kingsguard and, assuming the likeness of a child prostitute, strikes
him down. As punishment for betraying her vows she is struck blind.
At King's Landing, Cersei neutralises Margaery ? who has her wily claws in
the naive Tommen ? by striking an alliance with the leader of the
Sparrows, an evangelical cult growing in popularity. Everything appears to
be going as planned as Margaery's beloved brother Loras is thrown into a
deep dark room for sleeping with men and his sister is imprisoned for
lying on his behalf.
Alas, Cersei's clever scheme is revealed to be rather dimwitted as
whisperings of her relationship with Jaime reach the High Sparrow
(Jonathan Pryce). She too is dragged away by the religious police and
later required to undertake a naked Walk of Shame.
In the desert kingdom of Dorne, Jaime and his sidekick Bronn are on a
mission to save his daughter, Princess Myrcella. With Oberon Martyll slain
Jon Snow is dead! But only until Melisandre, calling on the Lord of Light,
brings him back (to the surprise of all, Melisandre included). Thus begins
the war of the Bastards, with Jon intent on wresting Winterfell back from
Ramsay and Roose Bolton. Actually make that just Ramsay ? who
eliminates his dad, his stepmother, and newborn half-brother (a true
blood heir who jeopardises Ramsay's position).
As a final conflict between the two approaches, Sansa and Theon
continue to flee Ramsay's forces. Sansa travels to the Wall where she is
reunited with her brother ("half brother," Lord Baelish might say, with a
significant pause between "half" and "brother"). Theon, meanwhile,
journeys to the Iron Islands, just in time for his hateful father to be
deposed by Theon's even more unpleasant uncle Euron. I
n King's Landing ,a post-Shame Walk Cersei isn't quite off the hook. She's
been humiliated - but must nonetheless stand trial for her crimes. The
fundamentalist High Sparrow is not for turning and guileless King
Tommen has agreed a formal alliance between church and state.
Bearing further bad news is Jamie, who reveals that Myrcella is dead. Now
all but one of Cersei's children is gone, bringing closer a witch's prediction
that her offspring would wear funeral shrouds (good luck surviving the
prophecy Tommen).
Daenerys is having a testing time, too, as prisoner of the Dothraki. As the
surviving wife of a slain Khal it is her fate to live in cloistered servitude
with the other widows. This doesn't chime with her plans to rule the
entire known world. So she scorches her opponents alive and, walking
unharmed through the flames, and becomes leader of the Dothraki (her
pledge to burn first, ask question later finding favour with the barbarian
masses).
She returns with Drogon to Meereen, where wise and wily Tyrion has
brought an uneasy peace. Meanwhile Theon and Yara Greyjoy (Gemma
Whelan) have stolen the Iron Islands, battlefleet from beneath the
exceedingly wicked nose of usurper Euron Greyjoy. Fleeing to Essos.
There, they strike an alliance with Daenerys. Boats, dragons, Dothraki ?
look out Westeros, the Targaryens are coming!
In the North, the Battle of the Bastards is joined as Ramsay clashes with
Jon (but not before Ramsay shoots dead the youngest Stark sibling,
Rickon, strictly for the chuckles).

There follows lots of top level hacking, slashing and rucking
in the muck. Just as the tide appears to have turned in
favour of Ramsay, however, in rushes Petyr Baelish and the
Knights of the Vale who carry the day.
Hurrah! Or, as Ramsay might put it, "aargh!" as he is fed to
his own dogs by a very vengeful Sansa (it's sadistic and
disgusting but still... yay for Sansa).
In Essos, Arya regains her sight and recommences her
training at the House of Black and White. However, the
going remains bumpy as she clashes with her nemesis the
Waif after refusing to assassinate a kindly actress. Upon
overcoming her implacable foe, Arya is shown the door by
Jaqen ? who intimates her training may be complete and
that she is indeed ?no one?. We next see her, in
shape-shifting form, cutting the throat of Red Wedding
planner Walder Frey.
In a mystical cave, Bran studies with the "Three-Eyed Raven"
? in reality a wizened human psychically connected to a tree
(Max Von Sydow), and experiences time-traveling visions.
We discover how Hodor became Hodor ? a complicated
temporal loop ? and learn the truth of Jon Snow's true
parentage. He is the child of Ned's tragic sister Lyanna. The
identity of his father is not revealed. However GoT fans are
confident it is Daenerys's slain brother Rhaegar Targaryen,
who fell in love with Lyanna and absconded with her.
Unfortunately, Bran's training is interrupted by the Night
King who kills the Three-Eyed Raven and sends the Stark
boy and companion Meera fleeing. Hodor - who indeed
"holds the door" against the zombies ? sacrifices himself so
that they may escape.
An unpleasant fate similarly beckons for Cersei. She has
sent Jamie off to the Riverlands to put manners on old Stark
ally ?Blackfish? Tully. Alone except for the resurrected
Mountain and her loyal mad scientist Qyburn, what's an
incestuous Queen Mother to do?
The answer, Cersei concludes, is to blow up the Great Sept
with some of that leftover wildfire, thus eliminating every
rival power player - including Margaery, the High Sparrow
and her uncle Kevan (appalled, Tommen jumps from a
window). With the Iron Crown upon her head, does the
Game of Thrones at last have a winner?
Mo is a dedicated family man who lives and trains in Portland, Oregon (USA)
with his wife Tania and their four children: Rhianna, Aisha, Amani and
Hussein. He famously dedicated each of his four Olympic gold medals to his
kids.
Mo?s achievements are a far cry from his humble beginnings in Somalia,
arriving in London from Mogadishu at the age of 8 and speaking very little
English. Mo grew up in West London and began running at school when
spotted by his PE Teacher, Alan Watkinson, who saw potential in the young
pupil. Alan convinced Mo to focus his efforts on running, despite Mo initially
wanting to become an Arsenal football player!
Mo's career took another step forward in 2010 with a 5,000m and 10,000m
golden double at the European T&F Championships, and then one week
later he became the first British man to run sub 13 minutes for the 5,000m -
with a National Record time of 12:57.94. 2011 was a dream season for Mo
as he became the first British man to win the 5,000m in the World T&F
Championships, a few days after winning the silver medal in the 10,000m.
He smashed the European 10,000m Record with a time of 26:46.57 and
improved the British 5,000m Record to 12:53.11.
Then came London 2012? On 4th August 2012, Mo created history at the
London Olympic Games. In his first race, Mo capped off 'Super Saturday' by
winning the 10,000m gold in a time of 27:30.42. This was Great Britain's first
ever Olympic gold medal in the 10,000m and came after two other gold
medals for Great Britain in the same athletics session

I have tried several different Indian takeaways, and they have nothing on these. I can 100% say
that every time I order from here it?s never let me down. I normally go for the Malayan dish, it?s
cooked with banana, pineapple and fresh cream so it?s a pretty mild, but it?s always full of
flavour, lovely thick sauce and OMG... the chicken... the chicken just falls apart, just thinking
about it right now makes me want it so bad.
So if you?re looking for a great Indian dish then I would highly recommend this place and don?t
skip any of the extra?s like the cashew rice, naan bread or the spicy chips.
A little hidden gem in the heart of Newcastle. I have been a frequent and returning visitor to
this restaurant , and it never fails to deliver good food, good service and a lovely
atmosphere. The food is mainly British Fair, with the element of posh dining without the
posh prices. There is an early set menu which is £18 (2 courses) £21 (3 courses). The cost of
drinks is about on par with most newcastle bars and restaurants. I have visited that often, I
have worked my way through the menu, and can safely say there has been nothing I did not
don?t be taken in. These people are after
your money and nothing else. Try agents
first, if no joy then you can always self
publish on Amazon. But make sure you get
a good editor before you do. Mistakes
creep in the best of books, however big or
small the publisher is, so make sure there
are more than one set of eyes on your
baby. Also never pay for advice from
someone who has not got a book
published, preferably two or three, only
then can they really give advice.
This month?s author is Matt Hilton, read his
story to publication here.
At author events, and during interviews,
I?m often asked what my working day
consists of, and how I approach my writing.
So I thought this could be a good
opportunity to explain. Since leaving the
police force to write full-time in 2008, I?ve
managed to pen (actually that should be
type, as I work direct onto my computer
screen these days) twenty-two published
novels, with between 90 and 120 thousand
words in each, as well as a raft of short
stories, novellas and flash fiction, primarily
in the action thriller genre, but also some
horror and supernatural. That?s not
including all the words I write for articles,
interviews and on the social media
networks, of course ? I?ve probably written
more there than ever ended up in any
published volume. When I say that, some
people blink in surprise, and wonder aloud
how I manage to write so much. The trite
answer is that it?s my job, but in reality it?s
also what I enjoy doing.
I?m paraphrasing but there?s an old adage
that goes something like ?to eat an
elephant take only one bite at a time?, and
it?s with that steady approach to
manageable chunks that I go. When you
think about it, writing one thousand words
a day is achievable (it?s about twice the
length of this article). In 90 days, that?s 90
thousand words, and about the length of a
modern manuscript of approximately 300
pages in book form. If you double your
word count, you can write a 90K words
rough draft in as little as one and a half
months. That isn?t to say that your book is
finished by any means, as editing and
re-writing must be taken into account, but
you can see how the daunting prospect of
writing a book might not seem as
impossible any more. Obviously I?m in the
enviable position of having the time to
write, to get down my word count, but
being an author these days isn?t just about
writing a book ? there?s so much more that
must be done that ekes into my time too.
I?m still a family man with commitments,
and part of my job these days is to engage
with readers and attend library and
bookshop events, and conventions, so
every day isn?t a writing day. But I do try to
write every day, even if it?s only a
paragraph or two ? each little bit of that
elephant I tackle makes less to face
tomorrow. When I?m on a deadline, I set
myself a daily target of two thousand
words, and I force myself to sit down and
get them done. Usually, once I know where
the book is headed and the adrenaline
kicks in as the end comes in sight, I speed
up, and it?s not unknown for me to write
two or three times as much per day.
Matt Hilton is the author of the
high-octane Joe Hunter thriller series, and
the Tess Grey and Po Villere thrillers. His
first book, ?Dead Men?s Dust ?, was
shortlisted for the International Thriller
Writers?Debut Book of 2009 Award, and
was a Sunday Times bestseller, also being
named as a ?thriller of the year 2009?by
The Daily Telegraph. Dead Men?s Dust was
also a top ten Kindle bestseller in 2013 and
2016. His most recent Joe Hunter novel,
Marked For Deat h, was published July
2017, and his next Tess and Po novel,
Worst Fear, in September 2017.
Eubank was born on 8 August
1966, in Dulwich, South
London, and spent his early
days in Jamaica (from two
months old to six years old).
On his return to England, he
lived in Stoke Newington,
Dalston, Hackney and then
Peckham, in a largely
impoverished environment.
He attended Northwold
Primary School in Upper
Clapton, Bellingden Junior
School, and then Thomas
Calton Secondary School in
Peckham, from where he was
suspended eighteen times in
one year and then expelled,
despite claiming he was
gallant ly t rying t o prot ect
ot her children from bullies.
Some time was spent at
Orchard Lodge Regional
Resource Centre, Anerley, in
1981. When he was 16, his
father sent him to New York in
the U.S. to live with his mother
in the tough South Bronx
district. He made a fresh start
in New York, battling drug,
alcohol and shoplifting
addictions to attend church
and school. In his spare time
he trained at the Jerome
Boxing Club on Westchester
Avenue, following in the
footsteps of his boxing elder
brothers (twins, Peter and
Simon Eubanks) back in
England. Eubank became
obsessed with boxing training
and went to the gym every
day, even working as caretaker
to pay his way. He won the
1984 Spanish Golden Gloves
Tournament and also got to
the semi-final stage of the
main Golden Gloves
tourney at Madison Square
Garden at aged 18. He writes
in his autobiography that his
drive to succeed in boxing
cam e t hrough his drive t o
becom e an accept ed
individual, largely caused by
subject ive bullying from his
elder brot hers.
He made his professional
debut at the Atlantis Hotel and
Casino against Tim Brown,
shortly after his 19th birthday.
Although his next 10 fights
went largely unnoticed, then in
February 1989 he made brief
headlines in defeating
Jamaican Anthony Logan in an
undercard match to a Nigel
Benn-headlined show. made
brief headlines in defeating
Jamaican Anthony Logan in an
undercard match to a Nigel
Benn-headlined show. Benn
was arguably the biggest rising
star in European sport at the
time and Logan had come
closest to beating the
power-punching Benn in what
was Benn's most memorable
clash to date. Eubank had
already made Brighton in
England his adopted
hometown and set his sights
on Benn, believing he could
beat him. After a string of
impressive stoppage victories
following a dominant 10-round
decision over American
gatekeeper / journeyman
Randy Smith, Eubank captured
the WBC International title in
1990 against Hugo Corti. Later
in the year, he knocked out
Renaldo Dos Santos in
precisely 20 seconds (including
the 10-count)
WBO m iddlew eight
cham pion
Eubank won the WBO
middleweight title against
Nigel Benn (and the odds) in a
classic encounter that was
later released on DVD
(pictured left): a gruelling
battle which ended when Benn
(ahead on points, but only
narrowly) was stopped on his
feet near the end of round 9.
Eubank would defend the title
successfully against Dan
Sherry (in a fight cut short by a
headbutt, for which Eubank
was penalised 2 points but still
won on points over the 9
completed rounds), fellow
Briton Gary Stretch

and finally in an excellent match with another fellow Briton,
Michael Watson, fighting him to a narrow 12-round majority
decision in Eubank's favour. This concluded Eubank's career as a
middleweight, with a 28?0 record.
WBO super-m iddlew eight cham pion[edit ]
A rematch with Watson for the vacant WBO super-middleweight
title took place in September 1991, in which Watson suffered a
near-fatal injury. Eubank was behind on all scorecards after 10
rounds, and was knocked down 18 seconds from the end of the
round. He rose from the canvas (being given only a standing
four-count instead of eight) to unleash a devastating uppercut to
Watson's jaw right at the end of the round, knocking Watson's
head and neck backwards into the ring ropes. The bell sounded
to end the round as soon as Watson was up from the count. It
was still obvious to all observers ? and to Eubank himself ? that
he needed a knockout to win: and early in the 12th, with Watson
still visibly shaken, the fight was stopped with Watson under a
flurry of punches from Eubank. Soon after the fight Watson
collapsed in his corner. His condition may have been worsened
by delay in receiving medical attention: there was no ambulance
or paramedic at the event and after eight minutes on the ring
floor, Watson was attended by doctors wearing dinner jackets,
arriving late. Following the fight, Eubank contemplated quitting
the sport. Commentator Reg Gutteridge claimed, in the moment,
he had, "never seen a more dramatic end to a world title fight".
Eubank later reflected on the aftermath: "I lost my finishing
instinct in the ring ? I couldn't finish fights any more. However, I
needed to work and so I carried on and I won most of my fights
on decisions. And I blamed myself, after all, it was me who threw
the punch."[6]
Eubank was particularly noted for his confidence, concentration,
composure, and extravagant behaviour, and antics that included
a vault over the top-rope into the ring before each fight. His
trademark theme tune was Tina Turner's Simply the Best. He
would often engage in posturing (particularly between rounds of
fights). Eubank was by now presented as something of a "man
you love to hate" figure in the British tabloid press because of
his perceived arrogance and for his singularly unconventional
sense of style. In boxing circles he enjoyed even less popularity,
having once referred to the sport as a 'mug's game' on national
television (This was a selective quote ? Eubank had actually been
discussing the seedier side of the sport, such as the beatings
taken by journeyman fighters for small sums of money, or
boxers that were lied to and ripped off by promoters).
Now the holder of a second title, Eubank relinquished his
middleweight title and concentrated on defending his new
crown at the higher weight of 12 st. After the Watson tragedy
Eubank never again showed any desire to knock opponents out,
preferring to retain his title through points victories. He made
successful defences against "Sugarboy" Malinga, the American
quartet of John Jarvis, Ron Essett, Tony Thornton and former
World Champion Lindell Holmes, as well as Juan Carlos Giminez
Ferreyra and a draw with fellow Briton Ray Close.
CHRIS EUBANK JUNIOR
Champion for the State of Nevada in his weight division of 165lbs.
With his eighth amateur fight he became the Amateur Golden
Glove Champion for the Western States of the United States in his
weight division. Eubank was 1?1 in the 2008 National Golden
Gloves. He ended his amateur career with a record of 24-2.
Eubank quickly turned professional in 2011 and signed with
promoter Mick Hennessy.[8] Mentored by trainer Ronnie Davies
and his father.[9] Over the next three years, Eubank amassed a
record of 18-0 with 13 knockouts to his name.
Christopher Livingstone "Chris" Eubank Jr. (born 18 September
1989) is also a British professional boxer. He has held the IBO
super-middleweight title since February 2017, having previously
held the WBA interim and British middleweight titles between
2015 and 2016. As of July 2017, Eubank Jr. is ranked as the world's
second best super middleweight by BoxRec sixth by the
Transnational Boxing Rakings Board and seventh by The Ring
Magazine.
When he came toe to toe with fellow boxer Billy Joe Saunders
(already on a record of 19-0) on 29th November 2014 at the ExCel
Arena in London. Chris Eubank Sr said of him in the lead-up to the
fight: "I don't fear for 'Junior' because he's the most dangerous
young man I've ever come across in boxing. He's scary." But,
unfortunately, after 12 gruelling rounds (Eubank has never gone
past 8 rounds in his career) his first loss of his career; and only on
points which helped Saunders to retain his British, European and
Commonwealth titles . Bringing his total up to 18-1.
Eubank was born in Hove, East Sussex, the son of Chris Eubank
Snr and Karron Suzanne Stephen Martin. He was a pupil at
Brighton College. Eubank also featured alongside his father in the
reality TV series At Home With The Eubanks.
At the age of 16, Eubank and his brother Sebastian moved to the
United States to live with a guardian named Irene Hutton. It was
explained by their mother Karron as "mere paperwork" and done
to enable them to gain dual citizenship without the need to
marry, and to enhance their prospects of sporting careers.
Since that day, Eubank Jr, has never lost a fight.
Eubank Jr. began his amateur career in 2007. With the winning of
his sixth amateur fight, he became the Amateur Golden Glove

Feeling amazing with every outfit you pull out your wardrobe is one but nailing
every fashion trend of 2017 is another. From Primark?s ?love island ?collection to
Gucci?s bloom slides, we?re thoroughly enjoying the fashion fiesta so far this year.
Has the corset from the 1800?s taken over? This garment was originally worn to
slim the waist and expound femininity of women. Now it?s being used as a way
to style-up an outfit to a voguish standard. A white belt-corset can make a
boring, black t-shirt look classy But wait, bralets have been spicing up our
outfits lately too, as Kendall Jenner sparks up the trend at the Alexander Wang
catwalk. As bralets are lifting the apparel sales, they are also lifting the
confidence of women who wouldn?t dream of wearing such revealing attire. We
can all go out and buy pretty bra?s from Victoria Secret and Boux avenue but
after all, they still disappear under our t-shirts. The difference is, a bralet is a
fusion between a laced bra and a sports bra, no adjustable straps, no under
wire, nothing sounds more comfortable am I right? Slogan t-shirts are creeping
back up from the 60?s, developed in a way to market a current brand. Phrases
and slogans are so popular within the youth nowadays because we associate
them with simple messages clear for everyone to see. But what about the
printed shirts that cognate with a lot of bad language? not good.
Nevertheless, is it worse than the current ?ugly shoe trend ?or in other words,
sliders. Street-like and sandals have been elevating over the years but this year
is all about the chunky-soled footwear people are dying to get amongst,
whether you wear them to out with your friends, to go to work, or to even
rejuvenate your outfit, they?re a pleasure to wear.
