WELCOME...
...to the October / November edition of VV...
Welcome to our autumn edition - the season of
mists and mellow fruitfulness! (Keats)
Summer seemed to end abruptly with an early
and rapid drop in temperature and what seemed
like non stop rain. The more recognisable
autumn of 'mellow fruitfulness' only now seems
to have arrived. Being surrounded by woods
and green areas in Penn & Tylers Green, we
really notice the seasonable changes, as the
leaves on the trees move through the colour
palette from pale, acid green in spring, to bright
green, then the autumn golds and brown, before
finally the trees shed their leaves, and eventually
fall. We are familiar with the changes, and find
beauty in the transformed seasonal vistas. Sadly,
the changes in landscape we have in prospect as
a result of the local area development plans will
significantly erode the semi-rural landscape that
we currently enjoy, to one which seems set to
move to being increasingly urbanised.
In this VV, we have extensive reporting of
planning issues, from different viewpoints.
Clearly the large scale changes proposed as a
result of the Local area plans have caused major
concerns, especially relating to the pressure on
our roads, the prospect of significantly increased
traffic through the villages. Lets enjoy village
life and the semi-rural landscape while we can.
To happier matters. Whilst summer in P&TG
is always jam packed with events and activities,
autumn events are more modest Village clubs
and societies are active throughout the year,
with many activities taking place at the Village
Hall. Don't forget the Sports & Social Club will
be hosting its 3rd fabulous Firework Display on
Saturday 11th November.
Whisper it very quietly, but after Fireworks,
the pressure will be on for us all to start our
Christmas planning and preparation. The VV
team will start planning and preparing for our
Christmas (December /January 2018) edition of
VV! We are always pleased to receive
contributions from our regular contributors, and
our readers, if you would like to share your
news and views, we would love to hear from
you. Cathy O'Leary, VV Editor
