50 year reunion for Ryde High School graduates
BACK in the early 1960s the high school system
changed in NSW when the Wyndham Scheme was introduced.
The ‘new’ era of education was

School and graduated in 1967

and a member of a reunion organising
committee.
“Over ten years ago a small
group of ex-students put together
a list of over 200 names
who attended at Ryde High,”
said Paul.
“They successfully made
contact with 140 of those
students. That led to a successful
40th reunion in
2007,” Paul said.
“We are continuing our
search for more of those exstudents
as we approach the
anniversary of our graduation
50 years ago. We are
now all aged between 67
and 69 years old but we all
still like to party”.
The committee of ex-students
has organised the 50th
Reunion for Saturday night
November 11 at North Ryde.
The Grand gathering of ex-
Ryde High School students,
who started school in 1962,
will celebrate 50 years since
Anyone who attended
school with them during
some or all of these years
are invited.
There will be a fee to help
pay for the venue and catering.

Ryde High School is on
Smalls Road Ryde.
The school was shut down
at the end of 1996 but the
buildings continue to be
used by the State Government
and community organisations.
However, with the changing
local demographic, there
is increasing pressure to reopen
the school to cater for
the greater number of local
youth.

centre to inspire learning

Tutorial Centre is
a NSW Department
of Education service
that works to
provide education
for students with
a variety of challenges
engaging in
learning.
Lodge Millennium
have been long-time
supporters of the tutorial
centre with a
strong focus on encouraging
our students
to be active
participants in their
education.
Recently, Joe Turner
and Ken Bock of
Lodge Millennium provided
a generous donation
to the Pennant
Parade Tutorial Centre
for the subsidy of their
first school camp.
Students worked
hard to be invited to
the week-long Canberra/Snowy
Mountains
excursion.
They took in the fantastic
educational opportunities
on offer
throughout Canberra
including Parliament
House and the War
Memorial with some
skiing and snowboarding
adding to the fun.
Principal Mark Gosbell
said: “This experience
will certainly impact
the students lives well
into the future and
support from Lodge
Millennium made the
excursion a reality for
many students.”
