The Abuja Chamber<br />

of Commerce and<br />

Industry (ACCI) has<br />

honoured the Dangote<br />

Group with the<br />

prestigious platinum membership<br />

certificate. The Chamber<br />

explained in a statement that the<br />

group is the first to receive the<br />

certificate from it.<br />

Speaking at the event which<br />

took place on ‘Dangote Day’, at<br />

the just concluded Abuja international<br />

trade fair, Adetokunbo<br />

Kayode, the incoming President<br />

of the chamber, described<br />

the Dangote group as one of<br />

the most diversified business<br />

conglomerates in Africa, which<br />

has continued to demonstrate<br />

that manufacturing in Nigeria is<br />

possible and profitable.<br />

While felicitating with the<br />

group on behalf of executive<br />

committee, council members,<br />

management, partners and<br />

members of the Chamber, Kayode<br />

emphasized that the milestones<br />

covered by the group in<br />

production activities has made<br />

Nigeria self-sufficient and also<br />

earned foreign to the exchange<br />

economy.<br />

“The Dangote Group has<br />

been pushing up the frontiers<br />

of innovation and capacity in<br />

the areas of industry and us<br />

adjudged for having reputation<br />

to shatter records and set<br />

new ones,” he noted . “The<br />

group has grown to become one<br />

of the largest manufacturing<br />

powerhouses in sub-Saharan<br />

Africa with quality and competitive<br />

products in sectors like<br />

construction, building and the<br />

FMCG.”<br />

In his speech, Garba El-<br />

Suleiman, the special guest<br />

and Dangote Group’s executive<br />

in charge of customer<br />

development, commended<br />

the chamber for giving companies,<br />

organisations and<br />

individuals the opportunity<br />

to showcase their wares and<br />

demonstrate their latest products<br />

and services, and to examine<br />

market trends.<br />

He announced that the objective<br />

of the group is to serve<br />

and satisfy the people and help<br />

Nigeria and Africa to attain selfreliance<br />

and self-sufficiency in<br />

the production of the world’s<br />

most basic commodity, and<br />

establish efficient production<br />

facilities in strategic locations<br />

and markets.<br />

“Our participation in the<br />

fair is to showcase and create<br />

awareness about our products<br />

and services for the people in the<br />

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to<br />

know what we are doing in the<br />

different sectors.<br />

Products displayed at the<br />

Dangote stand include: Dangote<br />

flour, Dangote salt, Dangote<br />

sugar, DanQ seasoning, Dangote<br />

pasta excellente, Dangote cement,<br />

among others.<br />

PZ Wilmar partners NCF for yearly Walk for Nature <strong>2017</strong><br />

In line with its commitment<br />

to sustainable initiatives,<br />

investing in the future of<br />

local communities and the<br />

environment, PZ Wilmar, maker<br />

of vegetable oil Brand, Mamador<br />

and Devon King’s cooking oil,<br />

has joined in the sponsorship of<br />

the <strong>2017</strong> edition of the annual<br />

Walk for Nature (WFN) event to<br />

demonstrate the importance of<br />

healthy living and the conservation<br />

of nature.<br />

The Walk for Nature event<br />

themed “Cleaner Lagos which<br />

is jointly organized by the Lagos<br />

State Ministry of the Environment<br />

and the Nigerian Conservation<br />

Foundation (NCF) was recently<br />

in Lagos. The foundation for<br />

sustainable ecotourism, urged<br />

participants to imbibe and cultivate<br />

good environmental practices<br />

for nature conservation<br />

and sustainable environmental<br />

management.<br />

Acknowledging the support<br />

from partners such as PZ Wilmar,<br />

Commissioner for Environment<br />

Lagos State, Samuel Babatunde<br />

Adejare in a statement described<br />

the partnership as rewarding and<br />

hugely commendable “The major<br />

While giving her goodwill address<br />

at the event, PZ Company<br />

Secretary and Head of Corporate<br />

Services, Africa, Abiola Laseinde<br />

thanked the NCF and the Lagos<br />

state ministry of Environment<br />

for such a laudable initiative,<br />

“We are also committed to a<br />

cleaner Lagos, and as a business<br />

our practices are environmental<br />

friendly, the preservation of nature<br />

is very important and it has<br />

to be a collective responsibility,<br />

which is one of the reasons we<br />

decided to be part of this event”<br />

she said.<br />

PZ Wilmar was on ground to<br />

provide health check for participants,<br />

and education on healthy<br />

eating and living habits, courtesy<br />

of premium cooking oil brand,<br />

Mamador. Participants who<br />

arrived at the Marina ground,<br />

venue for the event were made<br />

to undergo free health checks;<br />

BMI, BP and heart healthy lifestyle<br />

tips. The event also provided<br />

PZ Wilmar the opportunity to<br />

further promote its Million Heart<br />

Mission campaign, powered by<br />

Mamador premium cooking<br />

oil, which aims at promoting<br />

heart health across the nation.<br />

Participants also had the opportunity<br />

to experience the brand<br />

first hand as they enjoyed finger<br />

food refreshment prepared with<br />

Mamador premium cooking oil<br />

at the event venue.<br />

Conservation Foundation<br />

designed to create awareness<br />

among the people about Nature<br />

Conservation and Good Environmental<br />

As part of its deliberate<br />

policy to fight poverty<br />

among Nigerians, the<br />

management of Inspirextra<br />

Empowerment Initiative<br />

(I-Extra) organised a workshop<br />

to build the human capacity development<br />

of over 1000 citizens<br />

in Edo State.<br />

The workshop with the<br />

theme, “Greatness Possibility”<br />

saw participants mentored on<br />

leadership and entrepreneurship,<br />

film production, communication<br />

and entertainment,<br />

agribusiness and creativity and<br />

innovation.<br />

In his welcome remarks, the<br />

president of the organization,<br />

Blessing Obehi Ayemehre said<br />

the programme was geared<br />

towards adding value to lives,<br />

teaching People how to be outstanding<br />

and maximize opportunities<br />

abound in their neighbourhood.<br />

Ayemhere explained that<br />

the capacity building would<br />

bestow on the participants spirit<br />

of self- independence and self<br />

-sustenance that will make life<br />

better and accommodative of<br />

new innovation, “where man<br />

articulate his vision in a society<br />

devoid of acrimony but positively<br />

engaged persons.<br />

He said the Inspirextra<br />

Empowerment Initiarive is an<br />

organization set up to bridge<br />

information gap, help people<br />

discover their potentials and<br />

maximize their potentials and<br />

also unleashed the greatness<br />

inherent in them.<br />

Ayemehre, a business strategist,<br />

consultant and trainer, was<br />

strategically organized to open<br />

up the minds of people living in<br />

Edo state to their hidden abilities<br />

to create jobs for themselves and<br />

impact society positively.<br />

added that about 600 persons<br />

benefitted from the first edition<br />

of the programme held last year<br />

in Benin-City while over 1000<br />

persons benefitted from this<br />

year edition.<br />

He noted that access to adequate<br />

against poverty, pointing out<br />

that with flow of information<br />

people would be would well<br />

informed, educated and knowledgeable<br />

to deal with economic<br />

and unemployment challenges<br />

confronting confronting them.<br />

He urged the beneficiaries<br />

to continually avail themselves<br />

with the knowledge acquired<br />

during the workshop.<br />

Speaking on the topic, “Untapped<br />

Agribusiness Opportunities”,<br />

Africanfarmer Mogaji<br />

noted that agriculture is the<br />

most potent weapon against<br />

poverty and unemployment.<br />
