charge of the Australian Light Horse on October 31 1917 which enabled the Allies to<br />

capture Gaza a week later on November 7, 1917 and shorten the world war.<br />

End of an Era for Gladesville’s<br />

SATURDAY DECEMBER 9 6.30am from Ryde<br />

The Weekly Times popular annual pre-Christmas<br />

Cheery Cherry Picking Trip to Orange is on again Saturday<br />

December 9 departing Ryde at 6.30am.<br />

We will be renewing our friendships with the people and community<br />

of Orange established with the mayor of Orange John Davis<br />

OAM and Deputy Mayor Chris Gryllis and councillors over the<br />

years.<br />

We will again travel by luxury coach and depart Ryde at 6.30am<br />

and return approximately 8pm.<br />

All inclusive cost of just $85 includes morning tea, sumptuous<br />

luncheon at Orange and refreshments, reserved return seat and<br />

visit to cherry orchard and other venues and a happy day with new<br />

and old friends.<br />
