Leticia Plummer - National Assistance<br />

Assistance League of Temecula<br />
Valley is pleased to announce the election<br />
of Leticia Plummer to the National<br />
Assistance League Board of Directors<br />
as Director of Membership. The election<br />
took place during the Annual Meeting<br />
at the September National Assistance<br />
League Conference in San Francisco<br />
September 18-20. As National Director<br />
of Membership, she has a committee of<br />
twelve members representing chapters<br />
from around the country. The position<br />
has a two-year term.<br />
Assistance League is a national<br />
nonprofit organization that empowers ordinary<br />
citizens to improve communities<br />
and transform lives through long-term<br />
volunteerism. Currently, there are 120<br />
chapters of Assistance League throughout<br />
the United States with over 23,000<br />
members.<br />
Plummer was one of a group of women<br />
who came together in 1989 to establish<br />
an Assistance League chapter in Temecu-<br />
la. The chapter was incorporated in June<br />
1989 and chartered as the 81st chapter of<br />
National Assistance League May 1992.<br />
From that time, she has been a tireless<br />
volunteer in the chapter holding positions<br />
as Thrift Shop Chairman, Newsletter<br />
Editor, Public Relations Chairman, seven<br />
years as Assisteens Coordinator, and two<br />
years as President of the chapter.<br />
During the last six years, Plummer<br />
has been a member of the National<br />
Assistance League Membership Committee.<br />
Within the committee, she was<br />
the Assisteens Liaison for the National<br />
Director of Membership. When asked<br />
why she sought this position, Plummer<br />
said, “I want to create effective change<br />
for future Assistance League growth.”<br />
Plummer and her husband of 40<br />
years, Bill, have lived in Temecula since<br />
1985. They have a married son and a<br />
daughter.<br />

The board of directors of the Temecula<br />
Valley Balloon & Wine Festival announced<br />
the appointment of Peggy Evans<br />
as interim executive director, effective<br />
immediately. The 35th annual event is<br />
scheduled for June 1-3, 2018.<br />
“Peggy’s contagious enthusiasm,<br />
creativity and infinite experience, will<br />
make our 35th anniversary year spectacular”<br />
stated Brian Keefer, CEO and<br />
chairman of the board.<br />
Evans has served on the Festival<br />
board of directors and as the wine venue<br />
chairperson. She has over 15 years of<br />
experience working with the Festival and<br />
over 25 years working in the Temecula<br />
Valley Wine Country including working<br />
for Callaway Vineyards & Winery and<br />
Thornton Winery.<br />
Keefer stated that the board action<br />
comes with the fullest confidence that<br />
Evans will be an outstanding steward<br />
of the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine<br />
Festival’s brand and mission to enhance<br />
the economic and educational environment<br />
of the Temecula Valley.<br />
The Temecula Valley Balloon &<br />
