U.S.'s National Sport Who would have ever thought that at a very I early hour, on a sunny Friday morning, when | most OYPers are either on the beach or in bed, that a successful international ball game | would actually take place. Surprisingly enough, on Friday April 11, <strong>1986</strong> at 9:30 a.m. the teams were out on the soccer field at Givat Ram warming up for the main event. All in all there were about 20 players and 10 fans. It was United States vs. The World (which consisted of m ostly Canadians, of course). We noticed, however, that there was a little problem. The U.S. (being the baseball fanatics that they are) outnumbered The World with their powerful players. Naturally they gave up one or two men to even up the teams. This minor sacrifice went unnoticed and the U.S. boys that changed teams were considered official players for The World (right, Michael and Adam?!) The game began with a blast for The World. They scored five runs in the first inning. The fans (who were m ostly for The World anyways) cheered them on wildly. The game progressed through the morning with the scores being fairly even. Then, at the end of 13 innings, after a few laughs, broken nails, and little arguments about who was pitching too slow or too fast, The World came in for the kill. The game ended with a score of U.S. — 13, The World - 1 8 . . . Better luck next year U.S.! Karen Goldstein
