How to Forgive Your Enemies 

In St. Matthew 5:43-44 it reads, 

Ye have heard that it hath been 

said, thou shalt love thy neighbor 

and hate thine enemy. But I say 

unto you,Love your enemies, bless 

them that curse you, do good to 

them that hate you, and pray for 

them which despitefully use you 

and persecute you;” 

The definition of despitefully is 

spitefully. Jesus said to love your 

enemies. If you love your enemies 

and treat them well, you will truly 

show that Jesus is Lord of your 

life. So many times people don’t 

want to forgive their enemies, but 

hold grudge. If you have a grudge 

against any person or against any 

church, you need to forgive that 

person or church. In James 5:9 it 

reads, “Grudge not one against 

another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: 

behold, the judge 

standeth before the door.” 

You must say “I forgive that person 

for the wrong against me.” in 

"First they came ..." is a poem written by German Lutheran pastor Martin 

Niemöller (1892–1984). It is about the cowardice of German intellectuals 

following the Nazis' rise to power and subsequent purging of their chosen 

targets, group after group. Many variations and adaptations in the spirit of 

the original have been published in the English language. It deals with 

themes of persecution, guilt and responsibility. 

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— 

Because I was not a Socialist. 

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— 

Because I was not a Trade Unionist. 

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— 

Because I was not a Jew. 

St. Luke 11:4 it reads, “And forgive 

us our sins; for we also forgive 

everyone that is indebted 

to us. And lead us not into temptation, 

but deliver us from evil.” 

God has forgiven our sins, we 

must now forgive those who 

have wronged us. Friend, you 

must overcome evil with good 

by praying for your enemy’s 

good. Ask God to bless someone 

that has done you wrong. 

In St. Matthew 18:21-22 it 

reads; “They came Peter to him, 

and said Lord, how oft shall my 

brother sin against me, and I 

forgive him? till seven times? 

Jesus saith unto him, I say not 

unto thee, until seven times; but, 

Until seventy times seven.” 

Think of some people who have 

wronged you. Have you truly 

forgiven them? May God Bless

NAIL IN THE FENCE 

There once was a little 

boy who had a bad temper. 

His Father gave him a bag 

of nails and told him that 

every time he lost his 

temper, he must hammer a 

nail into the back of the 

fence. The first day the 

boy had driven 37 nails 

into the fence. Over the 

next few weeks, as he 

learned to control his 

anger, the number of nails 

hammered daily gradually 

dwindled down. He 

discovered it was easier to 

hold his temper than to 

drive those nails into the 

fence. 

Finally the day came 

when the boy didn’t lose 

his temper at all. He told 

his father about it and the 

father suggested that the 

boy now pull out one nail 

for each day that he was 

able to hold his temper. 

The days passed and the 

young boy was finally 

able to tell his father that 

all the nails were gone. 

The father took his son by 

the hand and led him to the 

fence. He said, “You have 

done well, my son, but 

look at the holes in the 

fence. The fence will 

never be the same. When 

you say things in anger, 

they leave a scar just like 

this one. You can put a 

knife in a man and draw it 

out. It won’t matter how 

many times you say I’m 

sorry, the wound is still 

there.” 

A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. 

Please forgive me if I have ever left a hole.

The Importance of an Event Planner 

In the last couple of editions of the Banner, I talked about 

making your engagement known and the importance of setting 

a budget for your wedding. Now let the fun begin! Where to 

begin you may ask? Who’s going to help me, what colors, 

where to buy flowers, who will cater the meal? 

Before I became an event planner; I was a sister to a bride, 

a niece to a bride, a cousin- matron of honor to a bride. At 

each of these weddings I had also became the wedding 

planner, the florist, the decorator, the caterer, the hair dresser 

and the person to help them when their nerves were about to 

get the best of them. Trust me the nerves can get the best of 

you if you let them. I absolutely loved being their right-hand 

person, and that is when I decided I wanted to become an 

event/ wedding planner. I had three weddings under my belt 

and decided to go to college to get a Hospitality Business 

Management Certification. I was taught budgeting, time 

management and event planning. All three of these are 

important when it comes to planning a wedding. Why you 

may ask? Because it could save you a lot of money. Time 

gets away from you and things that are important to you 

become forgotten because you cannot do it all. 

What does an Event Planner do? Everything you need, they 

think for you the day of your wedding. You should not have to 

worry if the caterer showed up on time, if the flowers have 

been paid for or if everyone is lined up to walk down the 

aisle. Most of the time, the mother of the bride or sister of the 

bride take on all these roles. It can be exhausting for the 

family. Hiring an event planner allows your Mother and family 

to enjoy your special day. It also allows the Bride to have 

things done her way, because a good event planner meets 

with the couple numerous times to discuss how the couple 

wants their wedding day to go. You have an itinerary, therefore 

everyone knows where to be, when to be there and what to 

do when they get there. An Event Planner should also be 

able to save you money, they usually have a network of 

vendors such as photographers, florist, caterers, deejays etc. 

They can negotiate with these vendors to save you time and 

money. 

Can you have a nice wedding without a wedding planner? 

Absolutely you can! It might be worth looking into hiring one 

before you get started to see what they have to offer. Always 

ask for references and look up their website and check their 

ratings online. Some Venues have their own wedding

Ingredients 

1 1/2 cups milk 

1/2 cup white sugar 

1/2 cup powdered sugar 

3/4 cup butter 

1/2 teaspoon salt 

2 eggs 

2 egg yolks 

5 2/3 cups all-purpose flour 

1 ounce active dry yeast 

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 

1/2 cup raisins 

1/2 cup candied citrus peel 

1/2 cup candied cherries 

Scald milk. Add sugar, butter, and 

salt, and cool to lukewarm. Add 2 

whole eggs, and 2 yolks. Mix. Add 

to 3 cups flour and yeast in food 

processor. Process and let rise until 

double. Add cardamom, raisins, 

citrus, and cherries, and rest of

Buying a New Car? 

Do you know about 

Doc. Fees? 

If you’re going through the process 

of buying a car, you may have 

come across “doc fees,” or documentation 

fees. Dealers sometimes 

charge this fee in addition to a car’s 

purchase price, and it can often add 

several hundred dollars on top of 

the figure that you and the dealer 

agreed on. So what exactly is a doc 

fee? Is it a scam? And do you have 

to pay it? 

What Is a Doc Fee? 

A doc fee — also called a document 

or documentation fee, some 

dealers will just have it listed as 

processing fee— is a fee charged 

by car dealerships to process a 

vehicle’s paperwork. Essentially, a 

doc fee covers the cost of all the 

dealership’s back-office employees, 

from the people who handle the 

money to the employees who deal 

with the title, registration and the 

DMV. 

The only problem: Shouldn’t the 

purchase price cover those costs? 

After all, if a dealership makes a 

profit on each car sold, shouldn’t 

some of that profit go to paying 

each employee? To many consumers, 

the idea of an extra charge like 

this seems fraudulent and unreasonable. 

But is it fraudulent? In most 

cases, the answer is no. Many U.S. 

states don’t regulate the amount of 

money that a dealer can charge for 

a doc fee, though some states do. If 

you’re in a state that doesn’t regulate 

the fees, prepare for the dealer 

to hit you with a bill of several hundred 

dollars, even after you’ve negotiated 

the purchase price to a 

point you’ve mutually agreed on. 

As of July 2011, for the state of 

KY, the average doc fee was $354, 

fees ranged from $0 to $698, and 

there is- No cap or *rules. I have 

found all kinds of government 

documentation on how to run a 

dealership, but for the consumer 

there is very little information on 

this. 

Do You Have to Pay It? 

So, do you have to pay the doc 

fee? Some shoppers get so hung up 

on the doc fee that they forget about 

the most important part of a carbuying 

transaction: the bottom line. 

The bottom-line number includes 

the purchase price, tax and every 

single fee you can imagine — and 

that’s the number you should negotiate. 

Here’s what we mean: If you’re 

prepared to pay a certain amount 

of money with tax for a car, you 

should ask the dealer to deal in his 

bottom-line or out-the-door price 

— a price that includes the doc fee, 

if the dealer charges one. That way, 

you’re not haggling over the exact 

dollar amount of fees and taxes, 

which can be disheartening. Instead, 

you’re focused on the price 

you pay overall, and if the dealer 

wants to include a doc fee in that 

price, then so be it. 

For instance, say you have a 

$30,000 budget and you’re looking 

at a $28,000 car with a $500 doc 

fee. Add in a 7-percent sales tax, 

and this car costs $30,495. In this 

case, we might tell the dealer that 

we’d be willing to pay $30,000 out 

the door. After that, it won’t matter 

whether the dealer charges the doc 

fee or not, since you’re only dealing 

with the total price. 

Don’t Get Caught 

No matter how you choose to negotiate 

your price when buying a 

car, we strongly suggest making 

sure that all the fees have been mentioned 

before you sign any papers. 

Be sure to explicitly ask the salesperson 

if the price includes all fees, 

so that he or she can come clean

about any extra charges you might 

see on the final paper work. 

If a new fee crops up after this, be 

prepared to walk away and find a 

different car at a more honest dealership. 

*You cannot negotiate a dealer’s 

doc fee because they are required 

by law to charge the same amount 

to every customer. You can, however, 

ask them to reduce the price 

of the vehicle to compensate for a 

high doc fee. By separating the 

price, Dealers can advertise a 

lower price and, as a result, get 

more people into the dealership. 

Dealers have many costs associated 

with selling a vehicle. By definition, 

all dealer cost, including 

costs to prepare documents, are 

part of the price. A buyer should 

recognize any cost for the dealer to 

prepare the documents is minimal. 

Particularly in the age of computers. 

Why then should anyone pay a 

dealer hundreds of dollars for nothing. 

Most dealers have taken this 

tactic further. They have learned if 

they have the doc fee printed on 

every sales contract more people 

will assume the fee is legit. Another 

reason they print the fee on the contract 

is for legal reasons. They must 

show everyone paid the fee or they 

risk being sued. However, that does 

not mean you have to pay it. As this 

article suggests, simply reduce your 

offer by the doc fee. Dealers know 

this fee is negotiable. If your price 

offer is realistic, based on research, 

the dealer will not let you walk 

away. Except for the real government 

fees such as registration and 

sales tax, everything at the dealership 

is negotiable.
