In September, the Public Safety programs launched the Public Safety Star of the Month
award to honor the employee who has gone above and beyond in their work each month.
The winners thus far are as follows:
September: Rand Rutledge for taking on inspections in other territories during the hiring
process for new boiler inspectors
October: Candace Garza for compiling information about Colorado amusement rides that
were similar to the one involved in the fatal Ohio State Fair accident and communicating
relevant information to amusement ride operators in a timely manner
November: Karen Klaversma for always being willing to stop and help people during the
boiler database transition
Photos and a plaque featuring the names of the winners are outside of Peggy’s (current)
office, so stop by and take a look when you have a moment.
Sandi Johnson: Operations - Payment Processing
Have you ever wondered who all of the registration fees and fines go to? Well, they go to
Sandi Johnson.
She started working at OPS in August 2015 in the PRC. In August
2017, Sandi started training for the Payment Processing position.
She inputs the payments that we receive for all of our programs.
Soon, she will start working on collections for the Boiler Inspection
and Petroleum programs.
Sandi also works with Deb Oplinger from Finance to reconcile payments
for OPS. Another of Sandi’s duties is processing the file transfer protocols, which are reports
that environmental consultants submit via a special webpage. Sandi enters the date and type
of report received in COSTIS so the Remediation and Fund sections can work with them.
Sandi’s hobby is baking, which we all love! She used to decorate cakes before working at
OPS, and she still loves doing it.
