Jurisdiction Online has arrived!
The rollout of the new boiler database, Jurisdiction Online (or JO for short) kicked off with
user training during the week of Nov 6. The boiler inspectors and office staff “crammed”
into conference rooms 5A and 5B over the course of the week to learn how to navigate the
program, search for work in their territories, enter inspections, print the various documents
used by the Boiler program, enter payments and use the many other functionalities.
One of the nice things about JO is that it’s not necessary to use VPN - all the field staff
need is internet access from any computer, which is awesome. Another good thing with
JO is that, with the exception of one company, all of the insurance carriers use JO as their
database software management tool.
JO offers much better online payment functionality that actually provides a receipt for the
customer, which wasn’t available with our previous database. The public portal for
searching the database is not quite where we desire it to be, but it’s still a work in
progress.
As with anything new, there is that dreaded “learning curve,” but we’re confident that we
will be up to speed and comfortable with the program in short order.
