voluntary participation of local law enforcement departments in the U.S.
Not all departments that participate in NIBRS report data for a full year.
In fact, about 10% of all participating departments reported data for less
than 12 months in 2012. As a result, this table is based on data from
departments that reported for a complete year. In 2012, nearly 5,400 law
enforcement agencies contributed complete year arrest data to NIBRS.
This table summarizes the data reported by these complete year
reporting departments.
