Sumner’s Kate Morrison will have an internship at Christchurch International Airport, while Diamond Harbour’s Matt Cameron will have one with Orion. Lyttelton Port of Christchurch will host Karen Cameron, of West Melton. The aspiring directors will have the opportunity to work alongside the boards of companies and learn how they work. They will be mentored and will receive a study scholarship to do an Institute of Directors course during the term of the internship. The appointment is for a term of 18 months starting mid-way through this year. ACHIEVERS Board opportunities for interns EXPERIENCE: Diamond Harbour resident Matt Cameron, and Sumner’s Kate Morrison are among 12 people to have gained directors’ internships. CCHL is the 100 per cent-owned infrastructure investment arm of the city council. Director Bill Dwyer said there were more than 150 applicants. “Being an intern director is an opportunity for them to gain an insight into good governance practice and learn about the dynamics of sitting on a board,” he said. All internships are at CCHL owned companies, or other associated entities, he said. “I believe this scheme will offer worthwhile experience to those who have been selected and contribute to diversity around the board table,” Mr Dwyer said.
