A tremendous effort from
the Lyttelton and Governors
Bay Volunteer Fire Brigades
at the weekend. Not only did
they stomp up 1103 stairs at
the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair
Challenge, but they did it for
very worthy cause. Check
out page 3 to find out which
brigade came second overall for
fundraising more than $32,763.
Last week’s article on the
Lyttelton Port of Christchurch’s
plan to dredge a deeper channel
in the harbour certainly had
the community talking. Turn
to letters on page 6. Our guest
columnist this week is Redcliffs
School board of trustees
member Mark Robberds. He is
leaving the role after six years.
CHOCOLATE CHEWED OVER AT COUNCIL
A HEATED discussion was quelled
at a city council meeting last week
when a councillor was told to “eat a
Snickers.”
During last week’s meeting, city
councillor Jamie Gough joked
that fellow councillor Glenn
Livingstone should have a snack
during passionate discussions
over a deputation presented to the
you’re hungry.’ Perhaps Cr Gough
felt Cr Livingstone needed a bite of
chocolate to calm down.
