LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR TROPICANA<br />

FOUNDER – Thursday, 3 October was a proud day for Tropicana<br />

Corp as founder and Group Executive Vice Chairman<br />

YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Danny Tan Chee Sing was presented<br />

with the Lifetime Achievement Award (Excellence in Resort<br />

& Property Development) at the 5th World Chinese Economic<br />

Forum (WCEF).<br />

After accepting the award from the Deputy Chief Minister<br />

of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, YBhg Tan Sri<br />

Dato’ Danny Tan said “I am honoured to receive this award<br />

as it recognises the efforts put into promoting Malaysia to<br />

the wider international business community. I would like to<br />

thank WCEF for this award. <strong>The</strong> World Chinese Economic<br />

Forum brings together leading Chinese entrepreneurs from<br />

around the world to strengthen linkages between China,<br />

South East Asia and the West. It creates a platform to foster<br />

business partnerships, global economic cooperation and<br />

academic collaboration. This is in tandem with the Group’s<br />

roadmap where we believe in building strategic partnerships<br />

to accelerate growth.”<br />

Overall, 11 entrepreneurs were given Lifetime Achievement<br />

Awards at the presentation, which was attended by the<br />

Governor of Victoria, Australia, His Excellency Alex Chernov.<br />

<strong>The</strong> WCEF was established in 2009 and the Lifetime<br />

Achievement Award honours individuals who have made<br />

significant contributions in their respective fields of work.<br />

DONATIONS AND FUN WITH PHUA CHU KANG – Tropicana<br />

Corp hosted a night of fun with Singaporean TV and<br />

comedy star Phua Chu Kang on 5 October. <strong>The</strong> festivities<br />

marked the final release of the trendy, upscale Pandora Serviced<br />

Residences, the first phase of Tropicana Metropark,<br />

and saw Tropicana Foundation donating a total of RM90,000<br />

to Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, Persatuan Rumah KIDS and<br />

Rumah RACTAR.<br />

Edmund Kong, Group Deputy Managing Director of Tropicana,<br />

presented cheques of RM30,000 each to the charities<br />

and homes, and commented: “As a responsible developer, we<br />

have focused our efforts on not only building better communities<br />

but also improving the lives of those around us. We<br />

are dedicated towards assisting the underprivileged as well as<br />

enriching the experiences of young and old alike.”<br />

Following the cheque presentations, the crowd – made up of<br />

Pandora Serviced Residences purchasers, Tropicana Privilege<br />

Card members, online registrants, members of the media and<br />

the general public – was treated to performances by Phua Chu<br />

Kang, Urban Tribes and Cookie Ong. Guests were also treated<br />

to an exclusive showcase of Tropicana Collection.<br />
