RM500,000 FOR FOON YEW SCHOOLS IN JOHOR – Tropicana
Foundation aims to improve the lives of the underprivileged
communities through funding and charitable campaigns.
Initiated by Tropicana Group Chief Executive Officer
YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Danny Tan Chee Sing, the foundation
places a particular emphasis on health and education – something
evident in its latest gesture: a donation of RM500,000
to Foon Yew Associated Chinese Schools in Johor.
The donation was presented to Tan Wee Hiong, Chairman of
the school’s board of directors, by YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Danny
Tan Chee Sing in conjunction with the school’s 100th anniversary
celebrations.
“At Tropicana, ensuring quality education is something which
is very close to our hearts,” YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Danny Tan
Chee Sing said. “We believe that Foon Yew has contributed
significantly in providing quality education in the Chinese
language to Malaysians, regardless of their background. With
the growing need for Chinese education in the state of Johor,
we hope that it will continue to play a key role in producing
highly sought-after graduates and will contribute positively
towards the growth of the nation.”
Indeed, Foon Yew – the oldest and largest Chinese independent
school in Malaysia, with over 10,000 students – has a
bright future. With a main campus in Stulang, it has a second
branch in Kulai and has been given the approval to open a
third school in Pasir Gudang. The RM500,000 donation from
Tropicana will help solidify the school’s status as a leader in
Chinese language education.
TROPICANA ENTERS POWER BRAND HALL OF FAME –
Tropicana Corp was honoured this 23 September to be
presented with the Hall of Fame Award by Malaysia Power
Brand 2013.
Tropicana Group Managing Director Dato’ Dickson Tan said
“The Malaysia Power Brand award is one of the most prestigious
brand awards and Tropicana is proud to be a recipient.
Winning the Hall of Fame award is recognition of our pioneering
spirit that has reinforced our position as one of the
top property developers in the industry. Kudos to my team
for their tireless efforts.”
This year, Tropicana has been focused on unlocking the significant
value of its land bank, and has also undergone a major
rebranding exercise. “2013 has been a pivotal year for us,”
Dato’ Dick Tan said, “as it marks our transformation into a
premier developer. When we started the company more than
two decades ago, we pioneered the concept of resort-themed
developments with the introduction of Tropicana Golf &
Country Resort. We went the extra mile for our properties to
exude quality design, excellent amenities and stunning views
surrounded by lush landscaping, at growth regions across
Malaysia,” he added.
The Hall of Fame Award isn’t the first accolade of its type for
the Group this year. Tropicana has also received the highest
five-star award for ‘Best Mixed Use Development’ for Tropicana
Metropark at the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2013 and
the BCI Asia Top 10 Developers Award 2013. ➢
