St Andrew’s celebrates 100 years<br />

St Andrew’s College marked the beginning<br />

of its centenary celebration on Friday with<br />

its oldest collegian Naylor Hillary (left)<br />

Leighton. At least 700 old collegians and a<br />

number of current students attended the<br />

Founder’s Day assembly, which opened the<br />

AWARD FOR BUS DRIVER<br />

St Albans bus driver Arvinder<br />

Singh was runner-up for Go Bus<br />

driver of the year at the biannual<br />

Go Bus roadeo. Mr Singh excelled<br />

in four different disciplines<br />

– theory, vehicle inspection,<br />

customer service and driving skills<br />

– at the event, which took place<br />

at the Air Force Museum of New<br />

Zealand in Wigram.<br />

COMMUNITY CENTRE<br />

The St Albans community will not<br />

have to wait much longer for the<br />

rebuild of its community centre<br />

to begin. The Papanui-Innes<br />

Community Board finalised<br />

details about the project’s design<br />

at a meeting with the St Albans<br />

Community Centre rebuild<br />

working party. The project is now<br />

waiting for resource consent and<br />

should begin construction in<br />

August. A time capsule will be<br />

buried when the new centre opens.<br />

orchestra.<br />
