SCHOOL OPEN DAYS
Marian
College
Marian College is a Catholic state
integrated school for girls, situated in the
centre of the city. With a maximum roll
of 430, we have a very strong emphasis
on being a family school. Our faith is at
the heart of our school and we focus on
the values of commitment, perseverance
and courage, which are inherent in the
traditions of the founding religious orders
of our College. Student wellbeing is
important to us, as is a strong partnership
between school and family. Marian College
has a friendly atmosphere, which comes
from staff and students knowing each other
well.
Marian’s academic results are exceptional
and we are dedicated to creating a positive
learning environment which uses the
best of modern teaching practices and
information technologies; we also have high
expectations. Our students learn to become
independent, resilient and adaptable young
women, well prepared with skills for the
future. Every student at Marian College
is nurtured and her skills and talents are
developed.
Hornby
High
School
When choosing the right school for
our tamariki we often go by the ‘feeling’
we have when we visit as much as by the
programmes that schools have on offer.
Hornby High School’s feeling is one of
positive relationships that support learning.
In 2016 we reconsidered our vision as a
school, and resolved that our aspiration
is to be ‘A centre of creative excellence’
in everything that we do, whether visual
arts or chemistry, volleyball or music,
management or curriculum organisation.
The world demands fewer people who can
do repetitive tasks and more people who
can think creatively and critically. In doing
this we haven’t forgotten the importance of
the strong relationships that we build with
all of our students, and the importance of
individualising learning pathways so that
we come as close as we can to meeting
every individual student’s needs. We are
also committed to engaging with whanau
in any and every way we can, this all taking
place as we almost completely rebuild the
physical school. I personally invite you to
come along and meet with our skilled staff,
and the amazing young people who make
Hornby High School such a wonderful
place to be.
Hagley sets
you up for
life
If you are looking for
a high school where
teachers work closely
with you to ensure you
get the very best out of
your high school years,
then Hagley’s Junior
Graduating College is the
right choice for you.
We are often asked,
what makes Hagley different? We have
a culture like no other. No-one wears a
uniform and everyone is on a first name
basis, but that is just for starters. Students
come to Hagley because they’re treated
with respect and valued as individuals.
Hagley’s Junior Graduating College
has small classes and we take a personal
approach. It is all about what we can do
to help you. Classes are fun, focused and
inspire you to be the very best you can.
What does that mean for you? You feel
that your teachers are interested in you
and care about your learning, that you are
experiencing success – and much more.
We love our students aiming high and
doing well. Students graduate into Hagley’s
large Senior College where they succeed
academically and in many other ways, as
well as become our school leaders. This is
all built on the great foundations laid in our
Junior College.
Hagley’s Junior Graduating College
combines the best of both worlds: freedom
to be yourself and enjoy school in a
structured and supportive environment
where achievement is celebrated.
Experience the Hagley difference – it will
set you up for life!
