SOUTHERN VIEW<br />
Hillmorton High School students were treated to a visit from New Zealand Opera. There were 25 year<br />
seven and eight students and some music students involved in the workshop. The staff of NZ Opera<br />
shared insight into the latest performance La traviata, which opens later this month.<br />

for St Peter’s pupils<br />
ST PETER’S School pupils were<br />
recently treated to a visit from<br />
an ex-pupil and champion kart<br />
racer.<br />
Matthew Hamilton and his<br />
partner Tiffany Chittenden<br />
talked to the pupils about karting<br />
and showed them some of the<br />
trophies they have won.<br />
Hamilton also showed off his<br />
driving skills when he raced<br />
around the school grounds.<br />

enjoyed.<br />
Austin Tunnicliffe, a pupil at St<br />
Peter’s, is also a keen racer.<br />
ACTING: Alex Boys, Samantha Dryden and<br />
Matthew Hewson performed in front of other<br />
students.<br />
TEACHING: Performer Katherine McIndoe<br />
talked about performing and passed onto<br />
the students some acting tips.<br />

Crusaders visit<br />
pre-school<br />
AN EARLY childhood centre<br />
received a visit from the<br />
Crusaders recently.<br />
Cashmere Early Learning<br />
Centre took part in the Jennian<br />
Homes competition to win<br />
a bookcase and meet the<br />
Crusaders.<br />
The rugby players delivered<br />
the bookcase to the centre and<br />
spent time posing for photos and<br />
throwing a ball around with the<br />
kids.<br />
SHREDDING IT: Lawrence Miller, guitarist for Cashmere<br />
High School band The Blind Fishermen, won the Mainz<br />
Musicianship Award at the recent Smokefreerockquest<br />
regional final held at The Bedford.<br />
