BUDDING AUTHOR Azriel<br />
Taylor will have his writing<br />
published in an upcoming book.<br />
The year 9 Hillmorton High<br />
student competed in The School<br />
for Young Writers competition<br />
to be published with other young<br />
writers from around the country.<br />
Azriel was selected from more<br />
than 800 entries by New Zealand<br />
authors Tessa Duder and James<br />
Norcliffe.<br />
His work will be published in<br />
Re-Draft #16, The Dog Upstairs.<br />
Azriel’s teachers said this was<br />
an outstanding achievement for<br />
the high school student.<br />
The book will contain 74<br />
stories from teenage writers aged<br />
between 13 and 19.<br />
This is an annual competition<br />
open to all young people.<br />

met and talked<br />

and tried on<br />
the actors’<br />

her hard work.<br />
Her tutors said<br />
she was diligent<br />
both in class<br />
and with her<br />
homework.<br />
LEARNING: Future directors and camera assistants from Hillmorton High got a chance to<br />
experience what is involved in the film industry. The year 7 and 8 pupils recently spent eight<br />
weeks at Te Hapua: Halswell Centre working on a film and research project called Hunters and<br />
Gatherers.
