ASIAN GARDEN HOSPITALITY
The Star
Bringing
Asian Cuisine
‘Down Under’
Christchurch is blessed
with a host of wonderful Thai
and Asian restaurants, giving
us the chance to experience
first-class cuisine in the heart
of Canterbury. For cheerful
and modern we have Thai
Talay and Thai Temple with
their extensive Vietnamese
and Thai menus, and for
an experience where taste,
quality and style combine
for a very special dining
experience, there’s Buddha
Stix in Riccarton, if you enjoy
Asian street food try Le Xom
in Sumner.
At all four restaurants,
the focus is on food that is
authentically Asian, that
genuinely gives diners a taste
of what they could expect if
they travelled further afield.
Now it’s possible to recreate
those flavours at home
without travelling to exotic
locations. The Asian Garden
Cooking School in Harewood
gives you the chance to
experience healthy, fresh,
delicious and hands on Asian
cooking under the watchful
eye of their experienced Thai
chefs.
The school provides a
fun, interactive cookery
experience that begins
with picking fresh, largely
organic ingredients such
as lemongrass, galangal,
kaffir lime and chillies
from their garden. After a
demonstration, the group
gets to put into practise what
they have learned and the
session ends with the chance
to enjoy the meals they have
created over a wine or beer
and enjoying one another’s
company. And if, after all that,
you’ve loved the taste you’ve
created but don’t have time or
access to the same ingredients
at home, their in-house store
stocks the essentials so you
can make the same meals in
the comfort of your own
kitchen.
It’s a great teambuilding
alternative, an
option for hens’ nights
or just a fun family
event. They will soon be
running night classes and
their superb facilities are
perfect for guest chefs to
demonstrate other cuisine
too. Conveniently close to
the airport in case you want
to hop on a plane to Thailand
straight from the class, the
Asian Cooking School is
happy to accommodate
groups’ requirements without
compromising taste, to
take their healthy brand of
cookery into the community,
and above all, provide a fun,
group experience that brings
a taste of Asia ‘down under.’
