For at least the past fifty years, Christ<br />
Episcopal Church has offered Noonday<br />
services followed by lunches every Tuesday<br />
during the season of Lent. At 12:05<br />
we gather to worship together, and then<br />
eat a delicious luncheon prepared by the<br />
Episcopal Church Women.<br />
The purpose of the worship is to invite<br />
clergy from other churches in the downtown<br />
Elizabeth City area to preach, as<br />
well as the congregations to share in the<br />
fellowship of a meal. The mealtime is a<br />
time of hospitality and friendship. We<br />
lift up our common interest of doing the<br />
ministry of Jesus Christ together in the<br />
world. So, while we may differ in worship<br />
style, we are inspired by this common<br />
purpose.<br />
This year the churches involved in the<br />
Lenten Luncheons at Christ Episcopal<br />
Church are: Cann Memorial Presbyterian<br />
Church, Blackwell Baptist Church, First<br />
United Methodist Church, Cornerstone<br />
Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist<br />
Church, and Forerunner Ministries.<br />
