ABA Group’s PCP<br />

“A” Team takes top<br />

honours at the ABA<br />

Cricket Tournament<br />

The ABA Group Cricket Tournament<br />

kicked off on the 14th of April 2016 at<br />

the Old Ideal Indian SchooL Grounds. The<br />

2016 Tournament drew the highest ever<br />

number of participating teams as well as<br />

an enthusiastic, supportive crowd who<br />

filled the venue from 6 to 11 p.m. At the<br />

tournament 18 teams battled each other<br />

on the pitch.<br />

The final match was played between PCP<br />

“A” Team and Danah Filicori. Eventually,<br />

the PCP “A” Team came out victorious.<br />

Shedding some light on this victory, the<br />

DOT informs that the Danah Fiicori team<br />

won the toss and elected to bat. During<br />

their 8 overs they scored 60 runs while<br />

losing 9 wickets in the process. PCP A<br />

chased this target and achieved their<br />

goal with 2 overs to spare, losing only 1<br />

wicket in the process, thereby winning<br />

the championship by 9 wickets.<br />

The Man of the Series was Hilal of Filicori<br />

who scored 107 runs and took a haul of<br />

2 wickets. Present to witness the<br />

evening’s tournament were Mr.<br />

Hemachandra, Mr. Imran and Mr.<br />

Iftekhar, who encouraged the players<br />

and commended the spirit of friendly<br />

competition. The winning trophy was<br />

given away by Mr. Hemachandra, while<br />

Mr. Imran awarded the Man of the series<br />

to the deserving winner.<br />

ABA Beverages generously stepped<br />

forward to sponsor the event. The<br />

organizing committee offered their<br />

sincere gratitude to Pepsi for being a<br />

company that is invested in sport, as<br />

well as their strong backing of intergroup<br />

tournaments.<br />

On Monday May 2nd, 2016 the<br />

Embassy of Switzerland in Doha<br />

hosted an event to celebrate the<br />

Swiss National Day. The event took<br />

place at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Doha.<br />

Champions express<br />

Group Vice Chairman<br />

8 th May - 2016<br />

On 8th may 2016, the President of the Qatar<br />

Squash Federation, and the Vice Chairman of Ali<br />

Bin Ali Group, Mr. Nabeel Ali Bin Ali welcomed<br />

the 22nd GCC Squash Champions, Abdullah Al<br />

Tamimi, and Hamad Al-Amri, from the under 17 Adding to the celebrations ABA<br />

Junior Team to a special gathering held at the Watches & Jewellery made a special<br />

Chairman’s office. The meeting followed the display of the Caran D'ache and<br />

squash championship, which took place on the Reuge Musical Box. Visitors who had<br />

In the final match, Abdullah Al Tamimi defeated the<br />

Kuwaiti player, Amar Al Tamimi by scoring 3-0,<br />

while in the under 17 category, Hamad Al-Amri<br />

fulfilled the promise he has shown as a young<br />

junior player to win the gold medal and capture the<br />

title of becoming the only 4th Qatari player to ever<br />

win a GCC individual title.<br />

The championship saw the participation of the GCC<br />

countries: Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, KSA, UAE and the<br />

host, Bahrain.<br />

The Ali Bin Ali Group strongly believes in being an engaged corporate citizen,<br />

and this is yet another example of our Group contributing to the community<br />

and getting involved in supporting the Qatari youth. Events such as these add<br />

to the growing list of milestones for our Group!<br />
