TIME TO HONOR
THOSE SPECIAL
MEMBERS!!
YOUR HELP IS
NEEDED!
Time is approaching when
members will be asked for
nominations for two awards to
be presented at the May
chapter meeting.
First is National Assistance
League’s Ada Edwards
Laughlin Award. This award is
named for National Assistance
League’s cofounder who
remained less visible and filled
the role of behind the scenes
assistant to founder Mrs.
Hancock Banning. The
recipient should be an unsung
heroine/hero, a chapter member
for a significant time, having
given outstanding service in a
relatively inconspicuous way.
Please be aware of the
significance of the award—Ada
Edwards Laughlin’s background
service. It is in this spirit that
the award is presented.
Second is the Ruth
Kleinsmith Service Award.
The recipient of this award is a
model member typifying
Assistance League’s purpose:
caring and commitment in
action. This member unselfishly
fulfills service hours while
sharing talents and provides
financial support to programs
and activities supporting our
philanthropic work in the
community. Their dedication is
outstanding. First presented in
2008, this award honors Ruth
Kleinsmith, a dedicated member
of Assistance League for 28
years. Beginning her service in
Stockton, California, she served
in various positions before
transferring her membership to
ALGA in 1999. Ruth was
actively involved in our chapter
serving as corresponding
secretary and service hours
chairman, as well as working in
The Thrift Shop. She currently
resides in Sun City.
Take the next few months to
consider the contributions of
fellow members, not for the
accolades but for the success of
our chapter.
Written testimonies supporting
the nominations are
encouraged. It’s not the
number of votes a person
receives, but rather the reasons for
the nomination that are considered.
This is a wonderful way to
recognize outstanding individuals.
Please consider placing someone
in nomination.
