Hair cutting specialist
with a family focus
As with any professional skill, experience
counts when it comes to hair cutting, and
that’s where Louise Holdern of Elite Hair
Cuts fits the bill perfectly.
Louise owns and operates this familyoriented
business in Barrington Street, and
with 33 years in the industry in Christchurch,
she has established a strong reputation for
quality and service.
“I have whole families coming to
me for their hair cuts,” Louise
says. “It starts with the
mother, and she will say
that now she’s found a
good hairdresser, she
doesn’t want me to
go, so she sends her
husband, and
then the children
come too.”
As a
grandmother,
Louise is
especially fond
of toddlers and young
children, and enjoys it
when they are brought
to the salon.
“I love spending some time with them and
settling them down,” she says.
Louise also believes it’s beneficial for
young children to watch their parents or
caregiver having a hair cut, so they can see
it’s not a scary process and therefore won’t be
anxious when it’s their turn.
The other aspect of Elite Hair Cuts services
is hair colouring. For this they use
the top-of-the-range Luminart
Professional Colour Cream;
however, clients are also
welcome to bring in their
own colour product,
which Louise will
apply at a cost of $20.
Having colour
applied is not the
most glamorous
procedure, so for
clients who would
like privacy for
that, Elite has a
separate room
with a blind on the
window, where they
can have their colour applied then relax with
a tea or coffee and a magazine in a completely
private space.
Elite Hair Cuts has been closed for a few
days, but will re-open this Wednesday, March
28. Also, the Thursday late night closing time
has changed to 6pm for the winter months.

cut any time. Opening hours are Monday to
Friday 9am-5pm, with late night Thursday
till 6pm, Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm. Closed
