Alltech-Hartpury Student
Conference 2018
The annual Alltech-Hartpury Equine Student Conference will take
place on May 2, at University Centre Hartpury, Gloucester. Now in
its eighth year, the conference aims to provide higher education
students with experience of writing and submitting an abstract
and going through the review and revisions process, through to
delivering a theatre presentation to a full conference audience or
producing a scientific poster to present.
This year the conference is encouraging submissions on Equine
Behaviour and Welfare; Equine Business Management; Breeding,
Genetics and Stud Management; Equine Health and Therapy;
Equine Nutrition and Feeding, and Rider Performance.

Goodbye to
Auntie Blossom
06.04.1988 - 12.02.2018
It’s with great sadness that
we said good bye to our
‘Auntie Blossom’ on Monday
12 February. Purchased by my
father as a two year old from
Lee Gap Sales, Blossom was
part of the Mallender family
for 28 years. Known as ‘Auntie
Blossom’ due to her kind
nature and ability to look after
everyone and everything she
needed to. She was a super
brood mare, having 9 foals in
her lifetime. She was also my
father’s tractor prior to him
investing in a Massey Ferguson!
She was successful in anything
that she did from ploughing
fields to pony club camp.
Blossom was a huge character,
she would paw at her door &
smack her lips, never turned her
nose up at anything edible &
loved a ripe banana! She always
acted like she knew exactly what
she was doing, even if she had
never done the discipline before!
The stables are quiet without
her and we miss her very much.

Exciting New Bentley Ride
and Drive Competition at
The Equerry Bolesworth
International Horse Show
The Bentley Ride & Drive will
no doubt provide a battle royal
on the Saturday evening, June
16 when riders will first tackle
a course of jumps against the
clock before jumping into a
Bentley Bentayga V8 worth
more than £150,000 to drive
through a technical course of
cones and obstacles.
The Bentley Ride & Drive
competition will see riders
jump a traditional showjumping
course against the clock and
then make a quick dash into the
Bentley Bentayga for the riders
to drive under the guidance of
a qualified instructor through
the cones to try and take the
winning podium position.
The Bentayga V8 is unlike any
other sport utility vehicle in
the world. It is the fastest SUV
ever built and has the most
technically advanced engine in
its category.
The Bentley Ride & Drive
competition is definitely one
not to be missed with the
Bentayga 4.0 litre engine
achieving 0 to 60mph in 4.0
seconds, accelerating to a top
speed of 180mph. Without
doubt spectators will witness
some high-speed horsepower
during the event.
