Lex who is owned by Helen Marsh and is the
great age of 19, he felt so excited to be back
out eventing and had a spring in his step!
Ellie’s last ride of the weekend was Adagio
who is owned and bred by Keeley Durham
and has spent the winter working on his
dressage to get an improved score this
weekend and is always such good fun to ride
in the jumping phases so it was good to have
him back out and exciting to see what he can
do this year!
Equestrian Life’s own horse, Taffechan Rough
Diamond had a fantastic season opener.
Posting a 25.5 dressage and double clear, put
him in top spot in Intro Section C. Known
for his quirky nature, both the owner and the
rider have agreed that they will quit whilst
ahead with the eventing and his season will
progress with dressage, M&M Workers and
side saddle at which he excels!
Ann White had a last-minute change of horse
that proved successful as Mr Delectable
posted an impressive 26.8 dressage and went
double clear to take 3rd place in Intro Section
C. A 10 year old old Hackney x warmblood,
owned by Nicolette Forester. Commented
Ann “he has joined the Manor Farm Stables
and Rehab competition team and will
be attending various one day events this
season, including Frickley, Norton Disney
and Brackenborough horse trials, hopefully
aiming for some 90cms by the end of the
season.
Lucy Scholl, riding Just Dunnit, a 16.1hh,
7 year old Holsteiner dun gelding put in a
great performance in Novice Sec. H, with
a 23 dressage and double clear to take top
position. Says Lucy “We bought him from
his breeder Jason Nunn (Pinewood Stud) as

season eventing and we won at both BE90
and BE100 level last season. The aims this
year are to step up to Novice and hopefully
do a 1* towards the end of the year.
Richard Norfolk, who we reported on last
year, was delighted to at least be old enough
to complete at the one day event and his ride,
Henry came came off the lorry very excited
to do the open class at EMDG ode. Henry
was really not interested in the Dressage
but Richard still managed a 36.8 which was
mid table, had a silly pole showjumping for 4

faults and a magnificent round cross country,
just 5 secs over the optimum time. Great
warm up for Oasby.
Equestrian Life’s eventing contributor,
Tina Canton was also out in force over the
weekend with three horses, all of whom
finished 4th in their respective sections and
all bar one, going double clear. A great start
to the season for Tina.
Off to a flying start with two wins from
two starts was Jordan Kavanagh. His first
ride was Eco Boy, who is owned by Haylay
Blackburn, an 8-year-old gelding who has
been competing up to Foxhunter level and
has really taken to the eventing bug. A
dressage of 28.8 and a double clear saw them
finish on their dressage score. His second
ride, Ice Man, gave them a few hair-raising
moments travelling to the event but was
checked over by the stewards on arrival and
given the all-clear. Belonging to Christina
Hall, she bought him from a field two years
ago after losing her previous horse. He got
a 7th, 3rd and a win in 2017 with Jordan and
has proved to be consistent and reliable at
both 90cms and 100s.
