Product giveaways are
no longer a food issue
Aleading European food
producer has reduced
giveaway by 55%
since installing a number
of integrated combination
metal detection, packaging
inspection and checkweighing
systems from Sparc Systems.
And as the company
processes 150 tonnes of meat
every week, these giveaway
savings are significant while
the equipment has also helped
to improve yield.
Called Cerberus, the
combination system is
specifically designed for
high-risk food production
environments. Representing
an investment of more than
250,000 euros, the food giant
installed seven machines
with more than 40,000 food
packs running through each
active machine every day (one
machine is kept on standby).

feedback on operational

The Palcut Smoother is offered
Paper waste is cut
with the new pallet
layer smoother
Danish Aqua d’Or and the
Norwegian firm PePack Drikker
are among the first companies
to install the Palcut Smoother
module that can be ordered
together with new Palcut sheet
dispensers, or retrofitted
to existing systems.
The smoothing solution
has been introduced to ensure
the whole roll can be used for
intermediate pallet layers.
It is designed to increase uptime,
minimise paper waste and reduce
any shut downs. The smoother is
particularly relevant in industries
that use intermediate layers in
extra-strong paper grades, such
as those used for stacking spring
water on pallets.

Two labellers delivered in just 24 hours have helped to meet
the Christmas orders rush for the Drinks by the Dram brand
Atom Brands owns and
markets the Drinks by
the Dram brand and this
Christmas saw demand for
its products escalate to such
a point that it found itself in
need of additional equipment
to avoid disappointing
festive customers.
The company uses ELF
50 labelling machines from
Advanced Dynamics to
accurately label containers,
cartons and bottle shapes
and, when it contacted the
company before Christmas,
it found that within 24 hours,
it had another two labellers
delivered and ready to roll.
“Advanced Dynamics dug
us out of a hole and helped
us make Christmas for our
customers,” says operations
manager at Atom Brands
Liam Belton.
“We rely heavily on the
ELF 50 labelling machines
to dish out a consistent
40 a minute of our 30ml
miniatures, ready for
packing and distribution to
customers,” continues Belton.
